💎 Small Business. Big Impact. Stronger Goldfields.

Small businesses are the backbone of Western Australia — and nowhere is that more evident than here in the Goldfields.

New figures from the Small Business Development Corporation reveal that WA’s small businesses contributed an incredible $87.2 billion to the State’s economy in 2024–25, including $25.6 billion from the mining sector alone. Small businesses now account for 97% of all businesses in WA and employ more than 540,000 people.

This week, the Black Diamond Drilling team was proud to be part of the conversation as the SBDC Board and Small Business Commissioner visited Kalgoorlie-Boulder to hear directly from local businesses about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Our Goldfields General Manager, Andrew Zafer, spoke about the importance of continuous learning, supporting local employment, building strong customer relationships and investing in the local community.

“You never stop learning. Any information that’s going to help the prosperity of the business and allow us to be more efficient in our day-to-day operations, that’s always worthwhile.”

💪 A Record-Breaking Effort from Our Warehouse Team!

We’d like to take a moment to recognise and congratulate the incredible efforts of our Black Diamond Drilling Services Australia Warehouse Team! 👏

Last week, the team achieved an outstanding milestone by successfully unloading a record 8 shipping containers in a single week — an enormous effort that required teamwork, careful planning, technical expertise and plenty of hard work.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that it was completed safely and without incident, despite challenging conditions. It’s a great example of the professionalism and commitment our warehouse team brings to the business every day.

A special mention goes to our new Warehouse Manager, Rozarna Kamau, who has made a fantastic start in her new role. Rozarna did an excellent job coordinating the team, managing the workload and ensuring everything kept moving efficiently and safely.

On Friday, 17 July, the teams from Black Diamond Drilling Services Australia and Black Diamond Drilling Services Goldfields came together at our Perth Headquarters for our Annual General Meeting.

The AGM was an opportunity to reflect on another successful year, celebrate our achievements, and recognise the dedication of the people who make our business what it is. At Black Diamond Drilling, we’re committed to building a more sustainable future—both underground and above it.

As part of our greener initiative, we’ve introduced 6 units of electric forklifts and lift trucks from Toyota Australia and XCMG Group across three of our Australian locations. This transition is a key step in reducing our environmental footprint while maintaining the high-performance standards our customers expect.

Electric forklifts produce zero tailpipe emissions, helping to significantly reduce greenhouse gas output and improve air quality within our facilities. They also operate much more quietly than traditional diesel or LPG machines, creating a safer and more comfortable working environment for our team.

Beyond the environmental benefits, these machines are highly efficient, require less maintenance, and align with our broader commitment to smarter, more sustainable operations.

By investing in cleaner technology, Black Diamond Drilling is continuing to lead by example—delivering performance, reliability, and responsibility across everything we do.
