Dean Street Apartments – Progress Update 3
It has been a few months since we last provided an update on the progress of the Dean Street Apartments project in the Albury CBD.
Brief recap, the development is a multi-storey serviced apartment complex for the Commercial Club Albury. We have been working closely with from Melbourne and local builder (PBC).
Next week will see the concrete poured for the final floor level. Internal stairs and landings are currently being poured. Back-propping to the lower levels has now been removed, allowing for the installation of internal non-load-bearing partition walls and general room fit out.
It won’t be long now until we start seeing the structural steel installed for the roof and feature entry façade.
Great work, everyone!

Progress Update - Red Energy Arena, Bendigo (Bendigo Stadium).

Connex Group has delivered the 3D point cloud scanning and structural steel shop drawings for the Red Energy Arena extension in Bendigo, and this project is a solid example of what proactive coordination looks like in practice.

Stadium and sports facilities demand precision across a complex web of consultants, fabricators, precast contractors, mechanical and facility services, all working around an existing structure. Getting the detailing right through that process is what bridges the gap between proposed design and practical efficient completion.

Proud of the team's work on this one and great to watch the amazing contractors on site bring this facility to life.

It's exciting to reflect on the official opening of ECQ Outlet at Eastern Creek Quarter back in March, a major milestone for Western Sydney shoppers and a fantastic project to be part of.

Connex Group delivered the 3D modelling and workshop drawings for:
- Main structural steel
- Shopfront and tenancy steel

Our scope also included coordination with precast panels, ensuring alignment across key interfaces and supporting a smooth transition from design through to fabrication and construction.

A key part of our involvement was managing the evolving tenancy steel design, which required close collaboration and adaptability throughout all delivery stages.

Great to see the project come to life and already generating strong community engagement.

Project highlights:
560+ tonnes of steel
26+ km of purlin
14,000+ drawings issued

Well done to everyone involved, a fantastic outcome for all who contributed.

Hope Island Station: From Digital Model to Reality

As part of the Acciona Georgiou Joint Venture delivering the project for Cross River rail Delivery Authority, we provided the 3D modelling and shop detail drawings for the structural steelwork at Hope Island Station.

This was no small undertaking. Our team deployed multiple in-house detailers and modellers over the course of the project to support multiple contracted fabricators, translating proposed design drawings into clear fabrication and installation packages. Drawing on our deep knowledge of rail and infrastructure projects, we worked closely with consultants, fabricators, and site representative’s to identify constructability issues, resolve clashes, and coordinate different work packages.

Hope Island station is one of three new stations being delivered on the Gold Coast, to better connect South East Queensland’s growing population. Located beside Mangrove Jack Park off Hope Island Road, the elevated station will provide more public transport connections for the growing Hope Island and Helensvale communities to the Gold Coast and Brisbane. It features two 160-metre platforms with canopy, lift shafts, access and maintenance stairs, and an undercover plaza with a bicycle enclosure, plus new bus stops, and kiss-and-ride facilities.

We’re proud to see our work helping improve public transport connectivity for the northern Gold Coast. Most of the structural steel is now in place, and major construction is expected to wrap up in 2026.

We’re looking forward to seeing the station open and serving the community!

Check out some photos of the station progress over the past couple of years.

Dean Street Apartments Progress Update.

The development is a 5 storey Serviced Apartment Complex for the Commercial Club Albury. We have produced the engineering design, working closely with From Melbourne and local builder (PBC).

It is great to now see concrete panels rising above the Level 1 slab. The remaining portion of the Level 1 suspended concrete slab to the North has been poured this week. Room layouts to all floors above Level 1 are similar, which will see progress happen rapidly from this stage on.
Great work everyone - Onwards and Upwards!

Innovation isn’t about new gadgets. It’s about using what you have in new places that add value.

Our 3D point cloud scanner has had a change of scenery and is being deployed in the fabrication workshop.
We’re using it to check very complex assemblies before they leave the workshop floor, catching any misalignments and tolerance issues against our model when they’re cheap to fix, and long before they become install problems.

This is just another way Connex can keep steel moving to site on time and giving confidence its going to fit first time.

Accuracy matters, especially when you’re tying into existing steel.

Our team was recently onsite capturing a 3D point cloud scan to make sure the new structural steel aligns perfectly with what’s existing.

This tech has completely changed the game for us. No more running around with tape measures and crossed fingers, we now model directly from millimetre-accurate data. The result? Precision with confidence, less rework, fewer delays, and smoother installs.
