Just back from Indonesia 🇮🇩 where the future of seaweed is being built.

We spent the week with SeaSae, Uluu’s JV on the ground, working on our seaweed supply chain.

We met: 🌿 farmers growing seaweed at sea and in fish ponds; ⚙️ seaweed processors exploring how to transform their feedstock in new ways; and 🧪scientists keen to collaborate on unlocking seaweed biochemistry.

This is about more than materials.
It’s about collaboration, livelihoods, and shared purpose across Indonesia, Australia and beyond.

Huge thanks to the SeaSae team and all our partners. 🌊

The people behind our plastic-free future. 🌊

We’ve been heads down building - and it felt like the right moment to hit pause and capture this crew.

Uluu exists to replace plastic with something better: seaweed-based materials that work like plastic, but don’t pollute like it. That mission is bold - but it’s this team that makes it feel possible.

We’ve recently welcomed some amazing new faces - John, Guy, Hayley, Colin, Geoff, Mohadeseh - and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.

Here’s to seaweed, science, and seriously good humans. 🚀

🌿 One material. Many possibilities. ✨

A first look at our prototype film — made from Uluu’s seaweed-based PHA.

It’s a powerful demonstration of just how versatile our material can be. From packaging to textiles, we’re building a platform technology to replace plastic across industries.

Our PHA is produced using saltwater microbes, seawater, and seaweed — a regenerative material, made the way nature would.

Huge thanks to our brilliant team for continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible!

🧪 Big News at Uluu! 🧪

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr Geoff Dumsday as our Chief Technology Officer.

With world-class biomanufacturing expertise, Geoff will lead our R&D team, optimising our unique saltwater process to turn seaweed into PHAs - natural, biodegradable polymers that can replace plastic at scale.

Join us in giving Geoff a warm welcome to the Uluu team! 🎉
