In the air or on the ground, working too closely to powerlines is dangerous.

After a large commercial crop spraying drone struck a high voltage line near Wasleys, causing it to fall and cutting power to 58 customers, we are reminding farmers and contractors to stay alert around power infrastructure.

With these agricultural drones increasingly used year-round for activities including spraying and monitoring, the risks are also increasing. Striking powerlines can cause serious injury, fire, and widespread outages.

This adds to 17 other farm safety incidents involving power infrastructure already in 2026.

Stay safe:
โœ… Identify powerlines and poles before starting work
โœ… Use the Look up and Live map or app
โœ… Ensure proper drone training and approvals

If you hit power equipment call us on 13 13 66, or call 000 in an emergency, and stay at least 10m clear of fallen powerlines.

Say hello to our newest apprentices ๐Ÿ‘‹

Our newest apprentice intake has been getting to know SA Power Networks and taking the first steps in their careers with us.

Over the coming years, they'll work alongside experienced crews, mentors and leaders while completing nationally recognised qualifications and gaining hands-on experience across the network.

As the energy industry continues to evolve, we're investing in the people who will help drive it forward.

Strong winds are expected across parts of South Australia today and overnight into Tuesday.

The worst of the weather is expected across the Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Adelaide, Fleurieu Peninsula, Flinders Ranges and surrounding coastal and elevated areas, where wind gusts of up to 100km/h are possible.

We're keeping a close eye on conditions and have crews and support teams ready to respond if needed.

These conditions can bring down branches, trees and powerlines, which may cause power outages. If you see a fallen powerline, stay at least 10 metres away and call us straight away on 13 13 66.

To help you stay prepared and ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜†:

Sometimes the best feedback comes in crayon ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Bec, one of our powerline apprentices based in Cleve, shared a picture her four-year-old son drew after seeing our crews out and about โ€” complete with the transformer, bucket truck and powerline worker up in the air. And honestly, the detail is pretty impressive for a four-year-old.

Itโ€™s a nice reminder that what our people do every day doesnโ€™t go unnoticed. Even the littlest South Australians are watching, learning and asking questions about how power gets to their homes.

Safe to say you might have a future powerline worker on your hands there, Bec ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our 2026 Bushfire Prevention aerial inspections have officially taken flight.

Over the coming months, you might spot helicopters working across South Australia inspecting powerlines, pole tops and nearby vegetation.

These inspections help us identify potential issues early and reduce bushfire risk before summer arrives.

So if you notice a helicopter flying low and slow along powerlinesโ€ฆ yep, thatโ€™s probably us.

Not lost. Not sightseeing. Just helping keep the network safe and reliable for communities across South Australia. If they fly over your place โ€” give them a wave ๐Ÿ‘‹

Got an initiative or idea to bring people together?

Applications are now open for our 2026 Community Grants Program.

This yearโ€™s theme is connection, supporting projects that strengthen belonging and community participation.

That could be upgrading a local space, running community events, supporting volunteers, creating mentoring programs, or helping people who may be feeling isolated find ways to connect with others.

With grants of up to $5,000, weโ€™re backing initiatives that spark social connection, encourage participation and build a sense of belonging.

Since launching in 2022, the program has returned more than $500,000 in community funding across SA, including $132,000 supporting 30 projects in 2025.

Know a group that should apply? Let them know in the comments.

Applications close Monday 15 June. Find out more and apply ๐Ÿ‘‰ sapowernetworks.co/Community-Grants
