We're here 8am-5pm business days and we'll do our best to assist outside these hours during major outages. SA Power Networks manages the poles, wires and equipment that deliver electricity to around 1.7 million South Australians. Our people plan, build and maintain the network that powers homes, businesses and communities across the state. Every day we focus on delivering electricity safely, reliably and at the lowest possible cost — while connecting South Australia to a better energy future, today.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗹, 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗯.

Cyril is a new way for us to support communities during major extended outages and emergency events, providing free device charging, Wi‑Fi, network information, refreshments and a welcoming place for people to feel connected.

Designed through customer and community feedback, with vulnerable community members in mind, Cyril will bring practical support to where it is needed most. Cyril will also be out and about across South Australia between deployments, helping people learn more about the electricity network and their energy use.

After 12 years as an electrician, Alec was ready for something different.

A friend encouraged him to apply for our pilot Powerline for Electricians Accelerated Training Program in 2024. Earlier this year, he completed the program and qualified in the powerline trade.

“I was working on my own on commercial job sites and wanted a change of scenery. Now I’m outside, up in the bucket, working with a crew and out in the community.”

For Alec, that variety is a big part of the job. No two days are the same, and there’s a real sense of fulfilment in helping restore power to families when they need it.

He’s also found a team he can lean on.

“Your workmates become good mates. You’re in it together and it doesn’t feel like work.”

From electrician to powerline work on Kangaroo Island.

We’re looking for qualified electricians to join our team on Kangaroo Island, and Ethan knows what making that move can look like.

Ethan grew up on the Island and started a school-based electrical apprenticeship in Year 12. After working as an electrician in Adelaide, the opportunity to move into powerline work gave him a reason to come home.

“I always had an interest in powerline work and thought it might be something for me to try. The opportunity to come back home to KI also played a key part in applying.”

Since joining us, Ethan has become a qualified drone pilot and recently taken on the role of switching mentor at our Kingscote depot.

“I love the fact that I get to work outdoors in a new place every day, and see parts of the Island that I never expected to see.”

We’re heading to Touch a Truck Marion with Cyril, our mobile community hub, and one of the elevated work platforms or bucket truck our crews use out on the network.

Come take a look at the vehicles, meet some of our people who operate them and grab a foldable SA Power Networks truck for the kids to take home.

Qualified electrician and ready for something different?

Applications are now open for our Powerline for Electricians – Accelerated Training Program.

The two-year program is designed for qualified electricians looking to build on their existing skills and become a Distribution Powerline Worker.

You’ll combine training with hands-on experience across our network, working outdoors and learning the skills needed to help maintain the electricity network that South Australian communities rely on every day.

To be eligible, you’ll need a Certificate III in Electrotechnology, an Electrical Worker's Licence and a current Australian driver’s licence, along with experience in industrial, commercial or heavy electrical environments.

A first-aid course for families in Pinnaroo. Help to create Barngarla language and culture resources for students in Port Lincoln. Young people giving their time to help their community in Jamestown.

These are just some of the 34 projects sharing more than $152,000 through our 2026 Community Grants Program.

This year’s grants are focused on connection — supporting local ideas and programs that give people more ways to meet, take part and feel connected to where they live.

In Port Augusta, the Pride Picnic will bring LGBTQIA+ people, families, allies and the wider community together for a free community event.

In Adelaide, students and older people will spend eight weeks together sharing stories, cooking, making art and listening to music.

And in Mount Gambier, a local artist will develop a design for a public memorial to honour victims of domestic and family violence.

Behind each project are local people who saw something their community needed and decided to make it happen. We’re glad our Community Grants can help them do it.

Since 2022, the program has provided more than $650,000 to local groups across South Australia.

Congratulations to all 34 recipients. We’re looking forward to seeing what these projects bring to their communities.
