NOW OPEN | Alamora Pedestrian Bridge & Boardwalk

Delivered in just seven months, the new Alamora Pedestrian Bridge & Boardwalks is now providing a vital new connection for the growing Tarneit community in Victoria.

Engaged by LD Total under significant time pressure, FORGE collaborated closely with the project team to rapidly design and deliver an elegant new bridge and boardwalk solution for Villawood Properties. Leveraging modified versions of our proprietary Balmoral and Waterside access systems, the project was able to achieve substantial program efficiencies without compromising quality, aesthetics, or budget.

Appointed in October 2024, the entire project was completed and opened to the community less than seven months later - a strong real-world demonstration of the FORGE methodology in action.

The completed outcome includes a 36-metre steel girder pedestrian bridge, 40-metres of boardwalk and more than 175-metres of standalone balustrades with perforated feature panels, creating a highly functional and visually refined access solution for the precinct.

Despite the complexities of working across a water-filled culvert and within constrained local access conditions, extensive off-site pre-assembly, and careful construction planning enables the project to be delivered safely, efficiently, and to an exceptional standard.

International Day of Play | Spaces designed and built for imagination, movement and connection

Play creates opportunities for children to explore new ideas, build confidence, develop social connection and engage with the world around them.

Recognised by the United Nations, the International Day of Play (11 June) celebrates the importance of creating safe, inclusive and engaging environments where every child has the opportunity to learn and grow through play.

At FORGE, we’re proud to help bring these spaces to life through the design and delivery of custom play structures across parks, schools and community spaces. From large-scale timber towers to nature-inspired play elements, every project is designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and movement.

Every structure we deliver is about more than form and function - it's about creating places where confidence grows, friendships form, and play happens naturally.

Swipe through the carousel to explore a selection of FORGE’s play projects, and visit our website to discover more of the play spaces we’ve designed and delivered.

Project Spotlight | Cotter Dam Bridge, ACT

Supporting Canberra’s water supply since 1912, Cotter Dam has undergone a major transformation - evolving into both critical infrastructure and a landmark recreational destination.

FORGE was engaged by the Bulk Water Alliance / ACTEW Corporation, alongside GHD Landscape Architecture, to deliver key elements of the new visitor precinct and discovery trail. Our scope included two pedestrian bridges, an integrated boardwalk network, public viewing structures, and upgrades to the existing amenities building.

Featured in this video is the completed 30-metre cable‑stayed pedestrian bridge spanning the Cotter River. The crossing was delivered using FORGE’s Stirling cable‑stayed pedestrian bridge system, selected for its spanning efficiency, constructability, and minimal environmental footprint.

With restricted access and highly sensitive terrain, the bridge was prefabricated off‑site and assembled in stages, before installation via a carefully sequenced crane lift.

Delivered through the FORGE Methodology, the project demonstrates how integrating design, engineering and construction expertise from day one can reduce risk, maintain design intent, and provide greater delivery certainty. Challenging site conditions - including flood exposure and eroded rock formations - required a highly considered foundation approach. Drilled rock anchors were used to minimise ground disturbance while supporting long-term structural performance, complemented by sustainably sourced Australian hardwood and high-durability protective coatings selected for durability within the surrounding environment.

A bridge shaped by site, delivered with precision.

Project Spotlight: 'Timeflows' Public Artwork

A powerful new cultural landmark has arrived in Western Sydney.

Located near Angus Creek, the installation was designed by Michael Cohen, Chris Fox, and Shay Tobin, and brought to life through close collaboration with FORGE and project superintendent Savills.

The video showcases the completed installation in its full form, revealing the scale, materiality, and flowing geometry of the three intertwines arches as they sit within the landscape.

Stretching almost 21-metres from end to end and reaching heights of up to 7.4-metres, the structure reads as one continuous sculptural gesture-formed from rolled CHS steel and finished in a culturally informed palette. Together these elements reflect layered narrative of place, environmental change, and the continuity of Dharug culture.

Behind the finished form sits a highly technical delivery process, involving advanced computational modelling, structural rationalisation and precise off-site fabrication. Each element was carefully manufactured, pre-assembly, and installed to achieve both structural performance and artistic intent within a sensitive Creekside environment.

More than a public structure, 'Timeflows' stands as a lasting expression of culture, Country, and community - Indigenous inspired, brilliantly realised.

Design Scoping Package™ delivers destination ‘Grain Play’ at Thomas Jack Park

Groundworks are set to begin for a visionary new regional play space for Western Downs Regional Council in Dalby, 200km west of Brisbane.

Inspired by the Dalby region’s rich grain farming heritage, the unique design vision for Thomas Jack Park was shaped, refined and scoped through a Design Scoping Package™ collaboration between FORGE and leading Queensland landscape architects, Vee Design.

The centrepieces of the approved design concept are three striking interconnected play structures including a 12-metre high ‘wheat sheaf’ tower, 6-metre high ‘grain silo and 4-metre high ‘water tank’.

The on-site construction phase follows an extensive period of community consultation, design detailing and pre-construction with numerous refinements made to ensure the completed project best meets the needs of the region’s families now—and for years to come.

There are many reasons to consider partnering with FORGE on your next complex bridge project.

But rather than simply talk about our in-house capability, methodology and delivery approach, we thought it would be better to show you through seven of our recent complex bridge projects:

1. Tamworth Regional Skywalk
2. Kinbrook Pedestrian Bridge
3. Hamilton Street Pedestrian Bridge
4. Brickmakers Drive Pedestrian Bridge
5. Casino Suspension Bridge
6. Dorrigo Swing Bridges
7. Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton Bridge

None of these structures was straightforward to deliver. Each presented its own unique site constraints, technical challenges and stakeholder considerations — yet all were realised successfully through close collaboration between FORGE, our clients and specialist partners.

The article explores the delivery lessons, methodologies and project complexities behind each bridge, and how early clarity and specialist involvement helped drive better outcomes.

A few weeks ago, we shared photos from the Casino Suspension Bridge install - now here’s the video, because this one had to be seen in action.

Last week, the FORGE Construction team successfully installed the main span of the bridge across the Richmond River - a significant milestone for the project and a major step toward reconnecting the Casino CBD with Queen Elizabeth Park.

Designed and delivered by FORGE for Richmond Valley Council, the new suspension bridge has been carefully planned and coordinated from fabrication through to installation, bringing together specialist methodology, structural engineering and off-site construction expertise.

Throughout delivery, environmental considerations have remained a key focus, with works coordinated around the region’s annually returning flying fox colony. Once complete, the bridge will also feature lighting and locally inspired design elements that reflect the character of the local area.

A great effort by everyone involved in bringing this complex regional infrastructure project together.

PROJECT: Tamworth Regional Skywalk

COMPLEXITY: Scale, Community Scrutiny, Site Access, Environmental Sensitivities

The $18 million Tamworth Regional Skywalk is an iconic access project currently being delivered by FORGE for Tamworth Regional Council.

A large and complex network of access structures, the Skywalk route spans almost 1.5 kilometres and features concrete paths, interconnected boardwalks, an 84-metre elevated girder boardwalk, a 20-metre pedestrian bridge and multiple viewing decks—all with a 121 metres of vertical ascent and gradients of up to 33%.

Extensive parametric modelling and 3D simulations were used to guide alignment, span optimisation and AS 2156 compliance checks.

Selective pre-assembly has also been used to minimise on-site works and improve constructability, cost certainty and design confidence for all project stakeholders.

Breaking new ground | Toyon Road Pedestrian Bridge underway in Victoria

Construction is now underway on the Toyon Road Pedestrian Bridge in Kalkallo, delivering a critical new connection across Merri Creek within one of Melbourne’s rapidly growing northern corridors.

Appointed via an open tender led by Mosaic Insights, FORGE is delivering the 90-metre pedestrian crossing in collaboration with Stockland, Hume City Council, Whittlesea City Council, and with support from the Victorian State Government.

Designed to improve connectivity between Cloverton, Donnybrook Station, surrounding schools and key community amenities, the project will provide a safe and direct route for both pedestrians and cyclists across a complex and environmentally sensitive corridor.

The crossing traverses nationally significant growling grass frog habitat and interfaces with Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung cultural heritage landscapes, requiring careful planning and construction methodologies throughout both design and delivery.

The structure combines a 27-metre LONGREACH™ truss bridge with 36-metre and 27-metre approaches utilising FORGE’s proprietary BALMORAL™ girder bridge and boardwalk system - integrating multiple structural solutions to suit challenging site conditions and constrained creek interfaces.

With early works now commenced, the project marks another example of specialist bridge delivery that balances connectivity, environmental responsibility and technical complexity.
