This large heritage-listed Hawthorn property already had an older 4.5 kW solar system, but it couldn’t keep up with the household’s increasing energy use.

The home was in the process of being renovated and extended, with two large air conditioning systems, a pool heater and a home office adding to overall demand.

We removed the old system and installed a new 13.8 kW solar system hooked up to a large 48 kWh battery which took over 40 metres of cabling, a new sub-board and switchboard modifications to complete.

In other words, there’s a whole lot more going on underneath the hood than this ‘after’ photo suggests.

Hi, I’m Rob, one of the Renewable Energy Specialists at Steadfast Solar.

I’ve worked in the renewable energy sector for well over 10 years now, and I still really enjoy sitting down with our customers and uncovering what they need from a solar or battery system.

For me, that means asking the right questions, understanding how you use power, taking a close look at your bills and finding out what results you expect to achieve before I start talking about a design.

I’ve got no time for rehearsed sales pitches, scripts, gimmicks or cookie-cutter systems. It’s a few of the many reasons I enjoy working at Steadfast, because the company’s values and approach to looking after customers align with my own.

Something people might not know about me is that I was born in New Zealand - I might get myself into trouble saying this in Adelaide, but AFL has never been particularly close to my heart! I grew up playing rugby and kept playing well into adulthood, so it’s always been a huge part of my life.

These days, I love travelling with my wife each year, exploring new places, experiencing different cultures and - when the opportunity presents itself - finding a good pint of Guinness along the way.

Australia has officially passed 500,000 batteries installed through the Cheaper Home Batteries Program!

It’s a huge milestone, and a clear sign that more Australians are choosing to get more from their solar by storing their own energy for when they need it most.

Here in South Australia, where households continue to face some of the country’s highest electricity tariffs, reducing how much power you need to buy from the grid can make solar and battery an even more valuable investment. 🪙

And the battery 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿. The program continues, but the current STC incentive factor is scheduled to 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳.
