Territoria Civil has deep roots in the Territory, and the same goes for many of our team members.
We asked our Infrastructure Manager Mark Stinton what it is about living and working up here that ticks all his boxes.
How long have you lived in the Territory?
I grew up in the Territory and did all my education up to Year 12 here. I went to university interstate, as civil engineering was not available in the NT at that time, and went on to work on many projects around Australia before coming back home. So, in total 28 years in the Territory.
How long have you worked for Territoria?
Seven years, and before that 15 years with John Holland.
What project are you most proud to have worked on, and why?
The Alice Springs to Darwin Railway, because of the sheer scope and distance it covered. It was the last great trans-continental railway to have been built, and the experiences, skills and relationships I gained helped make me the engineer I am today.
What’s the best thing about living and working in the Top End?
There’s so much to love – where do I start?! Probably the natural beauty right on your doorstep. Also, Darwin has so much going for it. There’s an exciting pipeline ahead to help the city grow and attract more people to come and live here. I'm really excited for the opportunity to be a part of this growth.
What’s your ideal Sunday look like?
An early morning ride out on the singletracks of Lee Point on my mountain bike, before getting home to my lovely family and heading out to the Nightcliff Markets for some breakfast. Would probably get some preparation done for the upcoming work week, before catching up for dinner with my mum and brother.
