From a single welding torch and a leap of faith, to commanding the skyline.
We didn’t chase some grand vision. We simply decided to build something of our own. One opportunity in Wollongong — setting up and welding precast tables for a major Melbourne firm — ignited a fire we never saw coming. That single job gave us the precast bug, and it’s never let go.
If someone had told me back then that within five years we would own that exact facility, I would’ve laughed in their face. It felt like an impossible dream.
Five years later, we owned that exact facility.
Today standing atop of one of our sites in Wollongong CBD , I looked around and everywhere I turned there was RMK. If it wasn’t RMK Products painted and finished on completed buildings where people had already moved in, it was a tower crane lifting our panels, a mobile crane installing them, or panels we’d installed just days earlier. And if it wasn’t that, you’d look on the road and see our trucks carrying our products, sitting in loading bays, or waiting to come onto job sites.
We’ve been doing this for years across skylines in Sydney and other suburbs, but this is the first time we’ve done it locally and it hits different seeing our work dominate our own backyard.
The journey hasn’t been clean. There were risks that failed spectacularly and others that reshaped our entire business. But that’s the truth of it — without risk, there is no real reward. We’ve carved out a position in the Illawarra that no one else can match, and we’re proud enough to say it plainly.
To our crews who show up every single day, to the clients who trust us with their most important projects, our suppliers who make us who we are and to the people who’ve been here since day one. I also couldn’t be happier with the people that have joined me on this journey and the ones that are still with me today.
This isn’t just a business. It’s a testament to what belief, grit, and the right team can build.
We know we haven’t been very present on our socials lately, we apologise, we are flat out like a lizard drinking - the three kids and multiple businesses combo has me spent. Hopefully we’ll find the time soon to keep you all up to date more frequently.
