A lot can happen in 12 months! Throwback to one year ago today, when the first concrete was poured at Stage Two of our HPA First Facility in Gladstone.

Since then, we've placed 8,309m³ of concrete, making significant progress towards bringing our world-scale advanced manufacturing facility to life in Gladstone.

Every major project starts with a single milestone. Here's where it began…

With Central Queensland continuing to attract significant industrial investment, conversations about local capability, collaboration and regional growth have never been more important.

Alpha HPA Managing Director Rob Williamson, who also serves as President of the Gladstone Engineering Alliance Board, and Head of External Affairs and Communications Ellie Millar were pleased to attend the recent GEA member networking event.

The event brought together businesses from across the region's industrial supply chain to discuss the opportunities, challenges and priorities shaping Central Queensland's future.

Strong regional partnerships are critical as we continue progressing our HPA First Project and work alongside local suppliers, contractors and industry stakeholders to build long-term capability in the region.

What do ultra-high purity alumina, synthetic sapphire and a bowl of lollies have in common? They were all part of Alpha HPA's display at The Smith Family's Future Seekers Career Fair at Gladstone Central State School!

A big thank you to our Laboratory Team Leader Katie Cleary and Process Engineer Lucia Sanchez Mora who volunteered their time today to help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators.

The Year 4 to 6 students came armed with great questions about careers, education and what it's like to work in industry. They were fascinated to learn how Alpha HPA's products support advanced technologies around the world, that our HPA tablets are so hard they require diamond drill bits to break, and how our powder can be transformed into clear synthetic sapphire.

It's always rewarding to see young minds engage with science, technology and manufacturing, and to showcase the exciting opportunities available right here in Gladstone.

Thank you to The Smith Family and Gladstone Central State School for inviting us to be part of such a valuable local initiative.

AI isn't just changing the world. It's changing demand for the materials behind it.

We've secured Letters of Intent covering more than 12,000 tonnes of annual demand for our high-purity aluminium materials, already exceeding the planned capacity of our full-scale HPA First Facility in Gladstone.

From helping advanced chips run cooler and more efficiently to supporting next-generation battery technologies, demand is growing as companies around the world race to build the infrastructure of the future.

Great for some of the team to join this week's Gladstone Engineering Alliance Business Diversification Networking Breakfast.

The event brought together local businesses and industry leaders to discuss how organisations can navigate uncertainty, identify new opportunities, and build resilience through diversification.

It was a valuable opportunity to hear firsthand experiences from the panel, gain practical insights, and connect with others who are contributing to the continued growth and evolution of the Gladstone region.

Thank you to the GEA for hosting another engaging event that supports knowledge sharing and collaboration across our local business community.

Great to welcome Alpha HPA Chairman Norman Seckold to site this week.

Touring the HPA First Facility provided an opportunity to see firsthand the progress being made as Alpha HPA moves closer to becoming a commercial producer of ultra-high purity aluminium materials.

While the scale of construction is impressive, the project represents something much bigger than the infrastructure taking shape in Gladstone. HPA First is being built to supply a critical material used in semiconductors, lithium-ion batteries and other advanced technologies that are increasingly important to the global economy.

Reflecting on the visit Norman shared, “Having been part of Alpha HPA from the very beginning, it’s rewarding to walk around site and see years of work taking shape. The progress being made is a credit to the people delivering it every day. What excites me most, however, is what this project will enable. We’re establishing a new advanced manufacturing industry in Australia and supplying the high-purity materials needed for many of the technologies shaping the future. There’s still work ahead of us, but what has been achieved so far gives me a great deal of confidence in what’s to come.”

Thank you to Norman for taking the time to visit the project, and to the team and contractors whose efforts continue to turn years of planning into reality.

Interesting to see Queensland's innovation leaders recognised in this year's power list.

As attention increasingly turns to AI, quantum computing, advanced electronics and data centres, it's important to remember that these technologies depend on highly specialised materials throughout the semiconductor manufacturing process. Our advanced performance materials are used in semiconductor production, helping enable the chips that power the world's most advanced technologies.

As we progress construction of our Gladstone facility, we are strengthening a critical part of the global semiconductor supply chain and demonstrating the role Queensland can play in supporting the technologies of the future.

The imagination and dedication of Queensland’s scientists and tech entrepreneurs is shaping our future, yet many remain virtual unknowns, despite the influence they wield.
