What a wonderful day of connection, learning and advocacy!

Despite the windy and wet conditions, we were thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout for this year's Accessibility Awareness Tour along the Yeppoon Foreshore. Participants embraced the opportunity to experience the precinct from different perspectives, share insights, and have meaningful conversations about what makes our communities more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

Participants got to experience the use of wheelchairs, glasses to mimic a variety of vision impairments and earmuffs to mimic hearing impairments. We walked down stairs with the inability to see clearly, we had conversations with the inability hear clearly and we navigated important tasks like opening toilet doors whilst in a wheelchair.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed their ideas, experiences and enthusiasm. Your commitment to inclusion helps drive positive change and ensures that the voices of people with disability remain at the centre of future planning and improvements.

We would also like to acknowledge Council for supporting the event and the participation from staff and elected members. Also extending a huge thank you! to Regional Health & Mobility for generously providing the mobility equipment used throughout the day.

And of course, thank you to our Accessibility Capricornia crew, particularly our Chair 'Macca', for not only involvement in today, but the ongoing involvement through the group to generate positive action and outcomes.

Accessibility is about more than compliance—it is about creating places where everyone can participate, belong and thrive. Together, we are helping build a more inclusive Capricorn Coast for residents and visitors alike.
