Early Years Azneft, a business that integrated the Azerbaijan oil industry, was subordinate to different organizations in the former Soviet Union and the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, depending on its organizations' characteristics at different times and was known as Azerneftkomite, Azerneftkombinat (later divided into the Azerneft, Azerneftzavodlar and Azerneftmashingayirma syndicates), and Azerneftchikharma syndicates, and so forth. 1954-70 In 1954-1959, the Ministry of the Oil Industry of the Azerbaijan SSR and in 1965-1970, the Ministry of Oil Production Industry of the Azerbaijan SSR were established on basis of Azerneft. The organization was renamed Azerneft in August, 1970 1991 In 1991, as the Republic of Azerbaijan restored its independence, Azerineft State Concern was established according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of December 3, 1991. On September 13, 1992, according to a Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, SOCAR (the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic) was established on basis of the Azerineft State Concern and Azerneftkimya Production Association in order to use oil resources in accordance with a consistent national policy, improve the management structure of the oil industry, and develop the energy industry. 1994 A number of changes have been made in SOCAR's structure since it was established. The Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Production Association were established as part of the State Oil Company by Decree No. 50 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of January 10, 1994 of "Concerning Improvements in the Structure of SOCAR". 2003 Decree No. 844 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of "Concerning Improvements in the Structure of SOCAR" of January, 2003, merged the Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Production Association to form the Azneft Production Union. İlkin dövr Azərbaycanın neft sənayesini özündə birləşdirən "Azərneft" ayrı-ayrı vaxtlarda tərkibindəki müəssisələrin xüsusiyyətindən asılı olaraq, keçmiş İttifaq və respublika miqyaslı müxtəlif təşkilatlara (Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Komissarları Soveti, SSRİ Ali Xalq Təsərrüfatı Şurası, SSRİ Ağır Sənaye Nazirliyi, Azərbaycan SSR Xalq Təsərrüfatı Şurası) tabe olmuş və "Azərneftkomitə", "Azərneftkombinat" (sonralar "Azərneft", "Azərneftzavodlar" və "Azərneftmaşınqayırma" birliklərinə ayrılmış), "Azərneftçıxarma" Birliyi və s. adlandırılmışdır. 1954-70 1954-1959-cu illərdə "Azərneft"in bazasında Azərbaycan SSR Neft Sənayesi Nazirliyi, 1965-1970-ci illərdə isə Azərbaycan SSR Neftçıxarma Sənayesi Nazirliyi yaradılmışdır. Qurum 1970-ci ilin avqustunda yenidən "Azərneft" adlandırılmışdır. 1991 1991-ci ildə Azərbaycan dövlət müstəqilliyini bərpa etdikdən sonra, Azərbaycan Respublikası Prezidentinin 3 dekabr 1991-ci il tarixdə imzaladığı Fərmanla "Azərineft" Dövlət Konserni yaradılmışdır. Neft sərvətlərindən istifadəni vahid dövlət siyasəti əsasında həyata keçirmək, neft sənayesinin idarəetmə strukturunu təkmilləşdirmək, yanacaq-enerji kompleksinin inkişafını təmin etmək məqsədi ilə Azərbaycan Respublikası Prezidentinin 13 sentyabr 1992-ci il tarixli Fərmanı ilə "Azərineft" Dövlət Konserni və "Azərnefkimya" İstehsalat Birliyininin bazasında Azərbaycan Respublikası Dövlət Neft Şirkəti yaradılmışdır. 1994 ARDNŞ yarandığı vaxtdan onun strukturunda bir sıra dəyişikliklər edilmişdir. Azərbaycan Respublikası Prezidentinin 10 yanvar 1994-cü il tarixli "ARDNŞ-nin strukturunun təkmilləşdirilməsi haqqında" 50 saylı Sərəncamına əsasən Dövlət Neft Şirkətinin strukturunda Dənizdə və Quruda Neft və Qazçıxarma İstehsalat Birlikləri yaradılmışdır. 2003 Azərbaycan Respublikası Prezidentinin "ARDNŞ-nin strukturunun təkmilləşdirilməsi haqqında" 24 yanvar 2003-cü il tarixli 844 saylı Fərmanına əsasən isə Dənizdə və Quruda Neft və Qazçıxarma İstehsalat Birlikləri birləşdirilərək "Azneft" İstehsalat Birliyi yaradılmışdır.
