Traditionally Ramu area is the sanctuary of wild elephants The shape of ivory has been selected for this magnificent piece of architecture to highlight this traditional wild life . Ivory is also the basic weapon of self defence for elephant.

This depiction of ivory in the design of the gate symbolizes the firm determination of our soldiers sol to present oneself defending the motherland and its sovereignty. The gate was thus named as Elephant Gate.

Construction of this gate was commenced on 24 August 2016 and successfully terminated in 14 November 2016. This gate was constructed within less than three months under direct supervision of 4 Engineer Battalion.

The length of each ivory is 74 feet having diameter of 9.5 feet. Its max elevation is 36 feet from ground level.
