Genetic engineering, also called genetic modification, is the direct manipulation of an organism's genome using biotechnology. New DNA may be inserted in the host genome by first isolating and copying the genetic material of interest using molecular cloning methods to generate a DNA sequence, or by synthesizing the DNA, and then inserting this construct into the host organism. Genes may be removed

, or "knocked out", using a nuclease. Gene targeting is a different technique that uses homologous recombination to change an endogenous gene, and can be used to delete a gene, remove exons, add a gene, or introduce point mutations.

The Biotech Club is excited to announce Biotech Fest 2024. It's a grand celebration marking 12 years journey of the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department of East West University. It's a day long event consisting of few segments. The event will begin with a Grand Opening ๐‘๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ to celebrate our departmentโ€™s achievements. Following this rally, we will host the ๐Ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‚๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฒ and a Biotech Olympiad which is designed for undergraduate students of East West University. Next, we will have a ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง segment, which invites young researchers from different universities to showcase their research. Poster presentations can be done individually or in groups.

Later, to conclude this program weโ€™ll enjoy a ๐‚๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐’๐ก๐จ๐ฐ that celebrates our departmentโ€™s journey.
To inspire student participation, weโ€™re offering significant prize money for the best poster presentations and Bio Olympiad winners.
