On Saturday, 5 July 2025, the IEEE Industry Applications Society BUET SB Chapter, in collaboration with the IEEE BUET Student Branch and IEEE BUET Student Branch WIE Affinity Group, hosted a technical seminar entitled โ€œmmWave Design in the Open: RF Fundamentals and the Journey from Schematic to Silicon.โ€ The session was delivered by Mr. Md Shafin Hossain, Engineer-1 (mmWave/RFIC Design) at Neural Semiconductor.

Mr. Hossain conducted an engaging and technically rich session, guiding attendees through the complete mmWave design processโ€”from high-level schematics to silicon realization.
Key highlights included:

A detailed explanation of an eight-way G-band Power Amplifier, showcasing both the block diagram and the final layout.

Performance insights of a unit-cell amplifier, achieving ~โ€“17 dBm output near 180 GHz with clear gain characteristics.

An introduction to open-source tools for RF and analog schematic design, highlighting their value for students and researchers.

A discussion on the end-to-end design flow, addressing challenges in layout, biasing, and matching networks.

An interactive Q&A session, where Mr. Hossain responded thoughtfully to technical queries, offering valuable industry perspectives.
