A microcontroller migration is rarely just a matter of changing the code.
In this project, we moved the control system from an Arduino Nano to an ESP32, and that meant revisiting the interfaces, voltage levels, communication paths, and hardware compatibility along the way.
We mapped the existing connections, identified the 5V to 3.3V logic-level differences, tested individual components, redesigned interfaces where necessary, and validated the system step by step.
The goal wasn't simply to make the ESP32 work. It was to make the transition reliable without compromising the existing system.
Now, the platform is moving toward a more capable and scalable control architecture.
Engineering is often less about building something new and more about making the existing system work better.
