আমি বর্তমানে একটি প্রকল্পে প্রায় ৫০,০০০ (পঞ্চাশ হাজার) স্কয়ার ফিট সিভিল স্ট্রাকচার কনস্ট্রাকশন কাজ পরিচালনা করছি। উক্ত প্রকল্পের কাজ ইতোমধ্যে চলমান রয়েছে এবং বর্তমানে কাঠামোগত (Structural) নির্মাণ কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়নের পর্যায়ে আছে।

তবে, ১ তারিখের পর থেকে পর্যাপ্ত ক্যাশ ফ্লোর অভাবে সাইটে প্রয়োজনীয় জনবল পরিচালনা, কনস্ট্রাকশন মেটেরিয়াল সাপ্লাই এবং দৈনন্দিন সাইট অপারেশন স্বাভাবিকভাবে পরিচালনা করা সম্ভব হচ্ছে না। এর ফলে কাজের ধারাবাহিকতা ব্যাহত হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।

Investment Overview

I am currently managing approximately 50,000 (fifty thousand) square feet of civil structure construction work under an ongoing project. The project is already in progress and is presently at the structural construction stage.

However, due to an insufficient cash flow after the 1st of this month, it has become challenging to continue normal site operations, including the management of required manpower, supply of construction materials, and daily site activities. As a result, there is a risk of disruption to the continuity of the work.

In this context, to ensure uninterrupted progress and the successful completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe, financial investment from an investor has become critically necessary. Upon receiving the investment, the funds will be utilized in the following areas:
• Management of site labor and technical staff
• Supply of construction materials and logistics
• Daily site operations and administrative expenses

RADIOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION

Dear Allies, I recently came across a radiographic image using the Double Wall Single Image (DWSI) technique, showing a dark spot near the center of the weld. The original post asked:
“What type of weld defect is this, and is it acceptable?”
Though I missed the chance to respond directly, I’d like to share my thoughts based on standard inspection criteria.

Possible Defect Types:
Porosity – Gas trapped during solidification; round or irregular dark spots.
Slag Inclusion – Non-metallic material trapped in the weld; elongated or irregular.
Lack of Fusion – Incomplete bonding; appears as linear dark areas.

Acceptability Depends on Standards:
ASME Section VIII – Isolated pores

Understanding Liquation Cracking in Aluminium 5083 Welding

Liquation cracking is a serious defect that can occur during welding of Aluminium 5083, especially in the heat-affected zone (HAZ). It’s caused by partial melting of low melting point phases along grain boundaries, which fail to solidify properly under thermal stress.

This issue often arises due to segregation of alloying elements like magnesium, manganese, and trace impurities such as silicon and iron. Rapid cooling, coarse grain structures, and high welding restraint further increase the risk.

To prevent liquation cracking, it’s essential to use crack-resistant filler metals like ER5183 or ER5356. Controlling the cooling rate through preheat and post-weld techniques, optimizing welding parameters, and minimizing base metal dilution are also key strategies.

If cracks do occur, mitigation techniques such as post-weld heat treatment, repair welding, and overlay welding can help restore integrity. Advanced methods like laser peening may also be considered for critical applications.

Liquation cracking isn’t just a metallurgical challenge, it’s a reliability risk. Understanding its mechanisms and applying preventive strategies is crucial for ensuring weld quality in Aluminium 5083.
