"You are literally made of stardust!" Have you ever wondered, as you looked up at the night sky, "What do the stars look like?" Well, here's something even crazier: you are made of the same stuff. The carbon in your cells, the calcium in your bones, the iron in your blood — all of it was forged inside stars billions of years ago. A massive explosion known as a supernova occurs when massive stars reach the end of their lives and release all of their heavy elements into space. Those atoms float around, join clouds of gas and dust, and eventually form new stars, planets... and people. So, in a nutshell, you are stardust, a fragment of the universe trying to comprehend itself. Next time you feel small, remember: You weren't just made by the universe; it also made you from the best matter it had.
