In the Midst of July: Md. Rafid Khan’s Stand for Communication

In July 2024, as protests spread across Bangladesh, demanding justice and reform, the government shut down the internet. What was once a basic tool for staying connected suddenly disappeared. It was more than a disruption. It was an attempt to isolate people, block coordination, and suppress a movement.

During that silence, Md. Rafid Khan, a Computer Science student at BRAC University and now Co-Founder and COO of BOT Engineers, made a decision. Instead of waiting or watching, he took action.

He built Jogajog, a secure communication platform created entirely without internet access. With no access to online documentation or external libraries, Rafid and his team used only what they had: local machines, existing knowledge, and a sense of urgency.

Jogajog allowed students to chat, share updates, and stay organized when everything else had been taken from them. It was encrypted, it worked offline, and it met a real need during a national emergency.

It wasn’t flashy or perfect. But it worked when it mattered most. That is what real engineering looks like.

At BOT Engineers, we believe engineering should be rooted in the real world. We are not here just to build products. We are here to solve problems. We prepare for moments when resources are limited, time is short, and people need solutions that simply work.

What Rafid did in July is a reflection of what we stand for. His story reminds us that engineering is not about waiting for ideal conditions. It is about stepping up when it counts.
