বজ্রপাত থেকে বাঁচতে বাংলাদেশ ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্স অধিদফতর ২০টি জরুরি নির্দেশনা দিয়েছে।
নির্দেশনাগুলো হলো-
১. বজ্রপাতের ও ঝড়ের সময় বাড়ির ধাতব কল, সিঁড়ির ধাতব রেলিং, পাইপ ইত্যাদি স্পর্শ করবেন না।
২. প্রতিটি বিল্ডিংয়ে বজ্র নিরোধক দণ্ড স্থাপন নিশ্চিত করুন।
৩. খোলাস্থানে অনেকে একত্রে থাকাকালীন বজ্রপাত শুরু হলে প্রত্যেকে ৫০ থেকে ১০০ ফুট দূরে দূরে সরে যান।
৪. কোনো বাড়িতে যদি পর্যাপ্ত নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা না থাকে তাহলে সবাই এক কক্ষে না থেকে আলাদা আলাদা কক্ষে যান।
৫. খোলা জায়গায় কোনো বড় গাছের নিচে আশ্রয় নেয়া যাবে না। গাছ থেকে চার মিটার দূরে থাকতে হবে।
৬. ছেঁড়া বৈদ্যুতিক তার থেকে দূরে থাকতে হবে। বৈদ্যুতিক তারের নিচ থেকে নিরাপদ দূতত্বে থাকতে হবে।
৭. ক্ষয়ক্ষতি কমানোর জন্য বৈদ্যুতিক যন্ত্রপাতির প্লাগগুলো লাইন থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন রাখতে হবে।
৮. বজ্রপাতে আহতদের বৈদ্যুতিক শকে মতো করেই চিকিৎসা দিতে হবে।
৯. এপ্রিল-জুন মাসে বজ্রপাত বেশি হয়। এই সময়ে আকাশে মেঘ দেখা গেলে ঘরে অবস্থান করুন।
১০. যত দ্রুত সম্ভব দালান বা কংক্রিটের ছাউনির নিচে আশ্রয় নিন।
১১. বজ্রপাতের সময় বাড়িতে থাকলে জানালার কাছাকাছি বা বারান্দায় থাকবেন না এবং ঘরের ভেতরে বৈদ্যুতিক সরঞ্জাম থেকে দূরে থাকুন।
১২. ঘন-কালো মেঘ দেখা গেলে অতি জরুরি প্রয়োজনে রাবারের জুতা পরে বাইরে বের হতে পারেন।
১৩. উঁচু গাছপালা, বৈদ্যুতিক খুঁটি, তার, ধাতব খুঁটি ও মোবাইল টাওয়ার ইত্যাদি থেকে দূরে থাকুন।
১৪. বজ্রপাতের সময় জরুরি প্রয়োজনে প্লাস্টিক বা কাঠের হাতলযুক্ত ছাতা ব্যবহার করুন।
১৫. বজ্রপাতের সময় খোলা জায়গা, মাঠ বা উঁচু স্থানে থাকবেন না।
১৬. কালো মেঘ দেখা দিলে নদী, পুকুর, ডোবা, জলাশয় থেকে দূরে থাকুন।
১৭. বজ্রপাতের সময় শিশুদের খোলা মাঠে খেলাধুলা থেকে বিরত রাখুন এবং নিজেরাও বিরত থাকুন।
১৮. বজ্রপাতের সময় খোলা মাঠে থাকলে পায়ের আঙুলের ওপর ভর দিয়ে এবং কানে আঙুল দিয়ে মাথা নিচু করে বসে পড়ুন।
১৯. বজ্রপাতের সময় গাড়ির মধ্যে অবস্থান করলে, গাড়ির থাতব অংশের সঙ্গে শরীরের সংযোগ ঘটাবেন না। সম্ভব হলে গাড়িটিকে নিয়ে কোনো কংক্রিটের ছাউনির নিচে আশ্রয় নিন।
২০. বজ্রপাতের সময় মাছ ধরা বন্ধ রেখে নৌকার ছাউনির নিচে অবস্থান করুন।
