We started our business in the name of M/S Rahman & Co at Rajshahi in the northern part of Bangladesh in 1982 as 1st class construction firm and subsequently involved in export and import business in around the year 1990. We used to import cement, stone, coal, rice, wheat, corn, onion and maize etc. (from India)
As time went on, we extended our busine
ss in the field of transport sector. In 2001 we launched transport business in the name of National Travels from Rajshahi to Dhaka which includes around 30 coaches including A.C bus. Subsequently we established Rahman & Co. filling station to meet up our requirement as well as of the customer. Through transport business we served the people of Rajshahi area with their entire satisfaction and built up goodwill. And later on in 2013 we have launched another transport company in the name of Desh Travels in the same route. Desh Travels consists of ultramodern 3 A.C coaches and 23 no-A.C coaches with the view to serve the passengers of this area. And we are successful to create our goodwill in the transport sector. As an agro product, especially in Rajshahi, plenty of potatoes are produced by the growers. But, there were no sufficient cold storage and they were very often deprived of fair price. Considering these we felt the necessity of cold storage and in 2003 we established a cold storage in the name & style of Rahman Brothers Cold Storage near Nawhata, Rajshahi. Considering potato yield we established two more cold storage in the name of Jamuna Seeds Storage (PVT) Ltd Unit-1 and Jamuna Seeds Storage (PVT) Ltd Unit-2 in 2009 & 2011 respectively. As a result growers are satisfied with in terms of storing their products into our cold storage. Through these industries we have created employment throughout these areas. Jute was considered as golden fiber in ‘East Pakistan’ then. Jute was the major source of Pakistan’s export earnings. After the emergence, Bangladesh Jute sector experienced major setback in terms of production and export. At the initial stage we had taken the risky venture with the jute sector (when in Bangladesh, almost no business people dared to go with this business in jute sector) by establishing a 100% export oriented jute mill in the name of Rahman Jute Mills (PVT) Ltd in 2006. We had to bear the export losses for three consecutive years. But we didn’t lose our heart and didn’t stop working on Jute sector. We are committed towards the development of agro based sector and through this sector we are trying to create employment and take part for the development of a better economy for the society and country. We started exporting jute products since 2008. Our hard labour and commitment towards the society and nation we made the success. Then we ventured with this Jute sector by setting up another 100% export oriented jute industries in the name and style of Jamuna Jute Industries Ltd. Jamuna jute focuses of high grade yarns for manufacturing carpets. Very recently we have taken an initiative to establish Rice bran Oil Industry in the name of Jamuna Edible Oil Industries Ltd. construction of which is going on. Hope it will be completed and to be opened at the end of this year (2014). Last but not the least, in the year 2014 we got registered Jamuna Specialized Rice Industries Ltd. in Joint stock companies hoping to get construction started in the middle of the year. The Group has also plan to move into potato products and other items. The board consists of four members Chairman Mrs. Aynaj Rahman and Managing Director Md. Lutfar Rahman and two directors Md. Tanzilur Rahman and Md. Monjilur Rahman. The group has dedicated employees with grater job satisfaction. The management and employees maintain friendly work environment.
