In 2006 Grid bd initiated a community radio project through which it has been implementing a number of activities for community engagement. Grid bd has also been a pioneer in using open source software and carries out research on ICTs, environmental sustainability and climate change. Grid BD is currently working on establishing an Open Access Digital Library which will provide vast collection of educational materials to stakeholders working at grassroots level. Grid bd also uses networking with academic institutions, community radio and telecentres for sustainable development of people at grassroots level. Grid BD has established a Grid Facility (GF) that provides Grid enabled technology based services to researchers, students and academicians of Bangladesh for their collaborative work on research projects.
