In 2006 Grid bd initiated a community radio project through which it has been implementing a number of activities for community engagement. Grid bd has also been a pioneer in using open source software and carries out research on ICTs, environmental sustainability and climate change. Grid BD is currently working on establishing an Open Access Digital Library which will provide vast collection of educational materials to stakeholders working at grassroots level. Grid bd's projects are mostly collaborative efforts where Grid bd works with local organizations, universities, research groups and individual experts to carry out various activities. Grid bd promotes open access in information dissemination to allow free flow of knowledge among people. Grid bd is well known for using participatory community action models for rapid social impact. Grid bd also uses networking with academic institutions, community radio and telecentres for sustainable development of people at grassroots level. Grid BD has established a Grid Facility (GF) that provides Grid enabled technology based services to researchers, students and academicians of Bangladesh for their collaborative work on research projects. Grid BD's Grid Facility is linked with Grid Infra-structure in the USA. Grid Network of Bangladesh (grid bd) is an organization that strives to empower people by utilizing ICTs. Grid network started its journey from mid-2004 as a community ICT access and usage initiative and has now grown into a well known ICT research and development group with different verticals like Grid Facility, Grid Consultancy, Grid Networking, Grid Computing, Grid Programming .
