🔧 30TR Water-Cooled Chiller Condensing Unit Replacement & Nitrogen Pressure Testing
Another successful industrial refrigeration repair completed by Climate Care Solutions.
These pictures capture the replacement of a faulty condensing unit on a 30TR Water-Cooled Chiller. The original condenser had multiple refrigerant leakages, making it impossible for the system to maintain the correct refrigerant charge. Due to the extent of the damage, the most reliable solution was to replace the entire condensing unit with a new one.
One of the pictures also shows a Nitrogen (N₂) cylinder, an essential tool used during professional refrigeration repairs. Nitrogen is an inert, dry, and non-flammable gas used for pressure testing and system maintenance. Before charging the system with refrigerant, we use nitrogen to:
✅ Pressure test the system and confirm there are no leaks after installation.
✅ Detect hidden leaks before refrigerant is introduced.
✅ Flush contaminants and moisture from the refrigeration piping.
✅ Prevent oxidation inside copper pipes during brazing when flowing nitrogen through the system.
✅ Ensure the refrigeration system is clean, dry, and ready for deep vacuum and refrigerant charging.
Using nitrogen is a critical industry standard because it helps ensure a reliable, leak-free system and protects expensive components such as the compressor.
What happens when a condensing unit has refrigerant leaks?
