Shunping Cai, Operations Manager and Safety Trainer-Coach at our Liyang site in China, reminds us that familiarity can lead to routine, and routine can make it harder to notice when something has changed.

Even if the process or equipment remains the same, changes in the surrounding environment can create new risks. That’s why hazard identification isn’t a one-time exercise.

It means staying curious, paying attention and continuing to look at familiar surroundings with fresh eyes. 👀

Kevin Krause, Production Engineer and Safety Trainer-Coach at our Bernburg site in Germany, has experienced how easy it is to rush through everyday tasks in the name of efficiency.

A phone call on the stairs or trying to save a couple of minutes might seem harmless, until it isn't.

Today, Kevin asks himself a simple question: is saving two minutes worth the risk of an injury?

His experience is a reminder that staying safe often comes down to everyday choices: slowing down, staying focused and giving each step the attention it deserves.

Even experienced colleagues can fall into routine. For Ángela Entrecanales Monasterio, one of the best ways to prevent that is to pause before getting started. 🖐️

As a Safety Trainer-Coach at our Torrelavega site in Spain, Ángela encourages colleagues to stay aware even during tasks they know well.

But her approach to safety goes beyond spotting hazards. When she sees someone taking a risk, she prefers to ask questions and understand what’s happening rather than simply tell them they’re doing something wrong.

International Youth Day is a chance to celebrate the young professionals growing their careers at Solvay and the communities they build along the way. 🌍

One of those communities is the Solvay Young Professionals Network (SYPN), which connects colleagues across teams and locations around the world.

It creates opportunities to meet people outside their usual circles, exchange experiences and learn from colleagues facing similar moments in their careers.

For 30 years, Patrick Joubert has helped reinforce that mindset at our Rosignano site. As Technical Services Manager, he encourages every team member to pause work whenever they identify a potential risk, because protecting people always comes first.

Throughout June, our LGBTQ+ Alliance ERG and colleagues have come together for a "Pride Coffee" in Lyon, a "Pride Lunch" in Brussels, a "Sunset Pride" afterwork in Lisbon, "Pride games" in Bangkok.... and way more all around the world.

A celebration of our community and a reminder that everyone deserves to feel seen, valued and included. Because Pride is not just about one month. It's about fostering a workplace where being yourself never feels like a question.
