After repairing and revising a Sick S3000 Safety Laser Scanner, we test it using the appropriate software.

We load our test project with our test system plug and analyze the measured field. The connection between the device and PC is established via our homemade cable emulator.

Testing has two phases: first, scanning long distances (our lab layout); second, checking object detection within the programmed field.

Smart management of legacy industrial electronics - A sustainable partnership at the port of Zeebrugge**

At ABC Industrial Parts, we are collaborating with CSP Terminals Zeebrugge (COSCO) on an innovative refurbishment and storage project for the frequency drives of straddle carriers.

This project focuses on reliability, extended service life, and operational continuity; all essential in a high-performance port terminal.

**Phase 1 — Preventive storage**
Aged drives with heavy operating hours are carefully prepared for long-term storage. Leaking capacitors are removed preventively to avoid damage to circuit boards, keeping critical components safe and ready for future use.

**Phase 2 — On-demand refurbishment**
When needed, drives are fully:
✅ cleaned
✅ revised and furbished
✅ equipped with new age-sensitive components
✅ intensively tested for 48 hours on our custom-built test setup

After a successful test, they return to the straddle carriers: ready for a second life in a demanding port environment.

This project demonstrates how preventive maintenance, refurbishment, and smart storage contribute to **cost savings, reduced downtime, and a circular economy**.
