This EuMA prize honors an outstanding young professional for distinguished technical achievements in the microwave field, recognising not only excellent research contributions, but also service to the microwave community.

A nomination must be submitted by a EuMA member, not a student member, who has known the nominee for more than two years. Self-nominations are not allowed.

EuMA is proud to announce the 6th edition of the Roberto Sorrentino Prize, honouring an outstanding young professional for distinguished technical achievements in the microwave field.

Radar is great at a distance. But what happens when the target is right in front of you? Let's find out together at our upcoming webinar on "Short-Range Phenomena in Radar-Based Sensing" by Bartosz Tegowski from Hamburg University of Technology.

In this session, Bartosz will explore how short radar-to-target distances can introduce unexpected phenomena that affect sensing accuracy and reliability. The talk will focus on the impact of the radar’s self-radar-cross-section, near-field scattering effects of electrically large targets, and the modeling and compensation techniques needed to address them — all rounded off with validation measurements and application-related insights.

Bartosz is a Ph.D. researcher at Hamburg University of Technology whose work has already earned several notable distinctions, including the Best Student Paper Award at , the Young Scientist Award at , and the Young Engineer Prize at .

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Professor André Vander Vorst, a founding member of the European Microwave Association and a towering figure in our community. He passed away peacefully on 25 December 2025.

Professor Vander Vorst helped shape EuMA from the very beginning, serving for many years as Secretary-General and Treasurer, and laying the foundations of the EuMA Headquarters and the organisational framework that continues to support our activities today. In recognition of his exceptional and lifelong service, EuMA honoured him with the Distinguished Service Award (2016).
