Together with our HAS University of Applied Sciences intern, Floris de Hoog, we’ve started a topdress trial in Picea conica at Van Lint BV. Trials like these allow us to translate nutrition strategy into practice and see how plants respond under real production conditions. We’re looking at uniformity, growth and overall quality.

This trial is also part of the preparations for our upcoming Haifa Tech Days, where we’ll share insights from trials like this with growers and partners.

It’s great to work closely with growers to make this happen!

Climate patterns are shifting across many strawberry-growing regions and tray plant propagation is increasingly affected. Recent trends observed in several production areas include:
• Warmer autumn temperatures, especially at night
• Higher radiation levels during late summer
• Lower relative humidity during key propagation months
• Fewer cold hours required for optimal plant development

These changes influence flowering induction, root formation, plant health and the overall potential of young plants. Conditions that were once considered reliable can no longer be taken for granted, making precise management during propagation more important than ever. Supporting plant resilience during these sensitive stages is key.
