🥬 Last week, we had a successful afternoon of knowledge sharing and field evaluation in Blizanów, Poland. Together with growers and industry partners, we reviewed cabbage varieties and discussed practical approaches to safe and productive cabbage cultivation.

Haifa was involved from the beginning of this project, supporting the crop with a complete Haifa 360° nutrition program: from a tailored MyCoteN™ Mix formulation to Poly-Feed™ Fol Bonus, Poly-Feed™ Calplus Foliar, HaifaStim™ KIR, and HaifaStim™ Combat applications throughout the season.

Around 500 strawberry growers gathered for BerryTech 2026, the annual event organised by Doradca Jagodowy, highlighting the industry's strong focus on innovation and knowledge sharing.

During the conference, Marek Łada presented the role of calcium in strawberry cultivation and introduced Haifa's calcium solutions: Haifa Soluble DUO and Haifa CalPlus. The program concluded with a field visit to the Boryna plantation, showcasing modern cultivation techniques and new varieties.

Plant health solutions are not a magic fix. Timing, soil knowledge and a different mindset are key. That is the clear message from ProGrasS, GrowSolutions and Haifa in a joint reflection on independent research by Lumbricus.

Together with Mark Timmerman and Coen Dekkers, Dorien Geentjens (Haifa) shares how this research is helping to better understand when and how plant health solutions really add value. As interest in these solutions grows, so does the need for clarity. The research confirms that results depend on the right context: a strong nutritional base, a well understood soil, and clearly defined goals.

At Haifa, we see plant health solutions as part of a broader strategy. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. They should not be used as generic “cocktails,” but applied with a clear purpose, and their real value lies in a preventive approach rather than trying to solve problems after they occur.

Across North West Europe, growers are adapting to rising costs, stricter regulations, and fewer crop protection options.

In conversations with Tom van den Berg (Genson Quality Plants) and Merijn Bloemen (Bloemen Young Plants), a clear direction emerges: stronger crops from the start, more stable growth, and a shift towards proactive, efficient production. Balanced nutrition, consistent irrigation, and preventive strategies are becoming key to maintaining performance and controlling costs.

New independent research by Lumbricus, led by Maurice Evers, gives a clearer and more realistic picture of the role of plant health solutions in turf management. The first results show that these solutions are not a quick fix. In many cases, products showed little effect at first. But over time, targeted use alongside a well balanced fertilization strategy led to less drought stress and fewer disease issues.

The key takeaway? Start with the basics. Strong soil, correct nutrition, and good water management remain essential. Plant health solutions can play a role, but only when used purposefully and based on a clear objective. We fully support this approach: combining solid agronomy with smart, targeted solutions.
