Some traditions are just meant to be treasured. Last Friday, we held our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, and once again, the team absolutely brought their A-game.

Gloves you can wash. Shelving you can reuse. Bottles you don’t throw away.

At Gondella, sustainability lives in the details. We try to cut waste as much as we can, repurpose leftover materials, and turn unused products into new components — giving them a second life instead of a one-way ticket to the bin.

Are we there yet? Not at all, but we try to prioritise smarter decision-making at every level of our company. Because lots of small choices = big impact. And there is always room to do better.

Some examples:

↪ We’ve built custom painting racks in our painting line that are easier to clean and reuse.
↪ We use re-usable intercompany packaging materials circulate throughout our Belgian sites.
↪ Powder waste from our lacquering department is recycled and turned into car mats, among other things.
↪ If older products can’t be reused as-is, we refurbish parts into new components, giving materials a second life.
↪ Every colleague uses a reusable water bottle and coffee cup, reducing single-use plastics.

Gondella is proud to have contributed to the remodelling of this 2,100 m² Delhaize supermarket in the Belgian city of Oudenaarde 🏪!

We delivered our Gondella shelving system throughout the shop, as well as our signature checkout furniture, which fits this beautiful store like a glove.

In retail, deadlines are non-negotiable, and our Gondella installation team can take on a challenge. Because with just three days on-site during the overall three-week renovation, our team ensured a smooth installation!

As Géraldine Vanhonsebrouck (29), one of the store owners, put it:

“They knew the project well, had a lot of experience with Delhaize, and worked very quickly. That was crucial, since the timing of this project was so challenging.”
