How to get a modified sinusoidal profile :

The modified sinusoidal acceleration profile combines the advantages of different motion curves to achieve smoother and more efficient machine movements.

By combining two sinusoidal waves with different frequencies, this motion law keeps the smoothness of cycloidal motion while reducing peak acceleration.

Another key benefit is that the maximum velocity is lower than in both cycloidal and modified trapezoidal profiles, helping reduce mechanical stress and improving overall machine stability.

In practice, the curve is built by combining:

- the first and last parts of a high-frequency sine wave.
- the central portion of a low-frequency sine wave.

The result is a motion profile that offers smooth transitions, controlled acceleration, and improved machine performance.

Cam Index Drives: Precision Motion in Industrial Machines

In machine design, indexing is the repeated movement of a component from one precise position to another, typically in linear or rotary motion.

Cam-driven indexing systems allow machines to start and stop at exact positions, ensuring high precision and repeatability.

Thanks to the rolling contact between the cam and cam followers, these mechanisms provide smooth motion, high load capacity, high speed capability and very low maintenance.

An indexing cycle consists of two phases:
INDEX – the movement phase

DWELL – the stop phase

During the movement, the motion follows three stages: acceleration, peak velocity and deceleration.

To control these transitions, several motion profiles exist such as Cycloidal, Modified Trapezoidal and Modified Sine.

The Modified Sine profile is the most commonly used because it ensures smooth motion and stable power demand.

When a constant speed phase is required, the Modified Sine Constant Velocity (MSC) profile is used.

Maintenance and Productivity,

Maintenance performance should not be managed reactively it should be measured, analysed, and continuously improved.

Three key indicators help us achieve this: MTBF, MTTR, and Availability.

MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) measures equipment reliability.
It tells us how long a machine operates before experiencing a breakdown. A higher MTBF means fewer unexpected failures, greater operational stability, and reduced production disruptions.

Improving MTBF is about preventing problems before they occur.

MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) measures maintenance efficiency.
It represents the average time required to restore equipment after a failure. A lower MTTR means faster recovery, reduced downtime, and less impact on production schedules. Improving MTTR is about responsiveness, organization, and technical expertise.

Availability combines both reliability and repair performance.
It shows the percentage of time equipment is actually running and creating value. High availability reflects a balanced system where failures are infrequent and recovery is fast.

Together, these indicators provide a clear picture of operational performance:
- MTBF reduces the frequency of interruptions.
- MTTR reduces the duration of interruptions.
- Availability reflects the real production impact.

By monitoring these KPIs, maintenance becomes more than a support function it
becomes a strategic lever for competitiveness, cost control, and operational excellence.

The ultimate objective is simple:
maximize production time, minimize losses, and continuously improve equipment
performance.

In precision mechanical systems, small deviations can create major production impacts.

Our approach combines technical expertise with performance indicators to ensure reliability,
reduce mechanical wear, and safeguard positioning accuracy over time.
We don’t just intervene we secure mechanical performance.

Repairing is reacting.

Driving performance is anticipating.

That’s the approach we bring to our clients!
