Overhaul DEUTZ SBA12M816
A great piece of craftsmanship last month at Denis Engine Services & Parts!
The main engine of an inland vessel, a Deutz SBA12M816, was due for a thorough overhaul. Not an easy job, as this engine couldn't simply be taken out...
To get the engine out of the ship, an opening to the cargo hold first had to be cut. The engine was then carefully lifted out through this opening with a crane — precision work in a tight space, but our team pulled it off!
Once in our workshop, the engine was fully stripped down, overhauled and tested. Every component was inspected and renewed where needed.
A thorough inspection revealed a crack in both the engine block and the crankshaft. Thanks to our own stock of fully reconditioned parts, both components could be replaced right away — no long wait times, with the same reliable quality as new. All still-usable parts from the original engine were carefully recovered and reused.
The engine is now as good as new and ready for many more years of service.
After the overhaul and the necessary tests, the engine made its way back: lifted in once more and reinstalled aboard the ship.
From lifting out to reinstalling — Denis Engine Services & Parts takes care of the entire overhaul, from A to Z!
