As summer draws to a close, our teams are already preparing the next chapters of the hydrogen transition. Behind every project, there is a reality that often remains unseen: cells being manufactured, stacks being assembled, prototypes being tested, and dedicated teams turning ambition into industrial ex*****on.

This video offers a glimpse inside our European manufacturing operations, where technologies move from and to industrial reality.

Over the past months, our European factories have supported projects across Europe and beyond. Following the production of cells for a 25 MW project in Belgium, our teams are now manufacturing equipment for a major 40 MW project in the Netherlands, with further projects already in preparation.

At a time when the hydrogen sector is facing significant challenges, one thing remains essential: the ability to manufacture, deliver and scale industrial solutions.

Because beyond announcements and ambitions, the energy transition ultimately happens on factory floors.

Take a look behind the scenes of our European manufacturing operations.

John Cockerill has successfully completed a major retubing project on 2 John Cockerill Heat Recovery Steam Generators ( ) installed at the Jebel Ali power plant operated by Emirates Global Aluminium, in Dubai.

Nine of EGA’s combined-cycle power units at Jebel Ali are equipped with John Cockerill HRSGs. This extensive installed base has enabled our teams to build a long-standing relationship with one of our flagship customers in the Middle East.

Our teams work closely with EGA on , spare parts supply, and studies to ensure the long-term and performance of its assets. This latest project focused on the complete retubing of 2 John Cockerill HRSGs commissioned in 2001 in order to support their long-term operation.

The scope of work was substantial. It consisted in the complete retubing of the low-pressure evaporators, low-pressure and high-pressure economizers, and preheaters.
In total, our experts replaced 1800 tubes and associated headers.
They also undertook hydrostatic testing and alkaline cleaning to ensure the integrity and cleanliness of the equipment before returning it to service.

The project was completed over 90 days, with operations organized across two shifts. At peak activity, up to 50 personnel were mobilized on site, demonstrating the strong commitment and coordination of our project teams.

Every activity was carried out in full compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality and ex*****on.

This successful ex*****on demonstrates John Cockerill's expertise in HRSG lifecycle and life extension services and our ability to deliver complex projects that help customers maximize the long-term reliability of their critical assets.

Congratulations to all teams whose expertise, dedication and professionalism contributed to this commercial and operational success. We are also grateful to Emirates Global Aluminium for their continued trust and excellent collaboration throughout the project.

Three years after the acquisition of the ex-Hamon Group operations in the United Kingdom, Charles-Edouard Delpierre, CEO Cooling, Chantal Dognin HRBP, and José Mares, Head of Customer Services for Spain and the UK, visited John Cockerill Hamon UK.

With more than 100 years of expertise in wet cooling towers, our British entity specialized in cooling towers, covering both new builds and customer service, plays a key role in the development of our business.

The visit provided our management team the opportunity to meet the English teams and discuss their achievements and challenges, share the Cooling vision and the strategic direction. They also visited the Saltend Triton combined-cycle power plant in East Yorkshire, where John Cockerill Hamon UK has secured a service contract.

The Saltend Triton site was a perfect example of operational excellence, with high-quality work carried out safely and professionally, full compliance with all safety regulations, well-organised ex*****on, a highly satisfied client, and a cooling tower in outstanding condition following completion of the works.

We took advantage of the visit to celebrate our colleague Steve Holmes, who was retiring from his role as Managing Director. It was the perfect opportunity to thank him for his commitment and contribution to the company’s development. Niell Strickland succeeds him in his management role.

These valuable moments of exchange perfectly illustrate our shared ambition:
One Team. One Ambition. Successful Together.

Key milestone reached in our project in Grudziadz, Poland!
In 2022, John Cockerill Energy secured a contract to design and supply a heat recovery steam generator ( ) for the new ultra-modern combined-cycle power plant in Grudziądz, Poland. Building on this success, we were awarded a second unit in 2025.
The first unit is being commissioned, while the second is being erected.

Recently, a key milestone was reached as we obtained the certificate of conformity for the first unit.

Issued by an independent Polish third-party body, UDT, Urząd Dozoru Technicznego, this certification confirms full compliance of our boiler with the European Pressure Equipment Directive , covering design, manufacturing, inspection and on-site installation. It enables marking and marketing across Europe.
This directive aims to ensure safety by imposing strict technical requirements, rigorous inspections and CE marking prior to placing equipment on the European market.

This first collaboration with UDT required close coordination with our engineering teams and partners, as well as multiple audits across the supply chain — all successfully passed, reflecting strong ex*****on standards and partner alignment.

Beyond the project itself, this achievement contributes to Poland’s ongoing .
As the country moves away from coal, combined-cycle power plants play a critical role in ensuring secure and flexible power generation. Designed to be hydrogen-ready, projects like Grudziądz 1 and 2, alongside Adamów and Gdańsk accelerate energy transition in the country, and are helping pave the way toward lower-carbon emissions.

By supplying HRSGs to all these new combined cycle power plants, John Cockerill is playing a key role in driving Poland’s energy transition.
