Scouting just got a GPS upgrade.๐Ÿ“

Weโ€™ve added GPS-powered scouting to Crop-Scannerโ„ข to make scouting easier, more consistent and more insightful.

With Geo Scout, location data is captured as you scout. While Satellite map and Scout Activity add even more insight into scouting coverage, crop locations and scouting optimalisation.

Less manual input. Better visibility. More consistent scouting.

Discover whatโ€™s new in Crop-Scannerโ„ข and how GPS can help make your scouting more efficient. ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŒฑ Great discussions and new insights at IOBC-WPRS 2026!

With more than 100 participants from around the world, the IOBC-WPRS Greenhouse WGM brings researchers and industry experts together to share the latest developments in biological control and IPM.

There is a lot of exciting progress being made, but also plenty of challenges still to tackle. That makes exchanging research, field experience and ideas more valuable than ever.

Today, weโ€™re taking the discussions into the field during the field tour, sharing some of our own research and exchanging experiences directly with fellow experts.

A big thank you to the IOBC-WPRS, International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control for the excellent organisation and a packed programme.

And weโ€™re not done yet. Two more days of insights, discussions and knowledge sharing to go! ๐ŸŒฑ

Can natural enemies make a real difference in thrips control in onions? ๐ŸŒฑ
Biobest has been developing an alternative approach to to***co thrips control in onions.

The focus? Supporting naturally occurring predatory thrips.

The approach combines:
๐ŸŒผ Specifically designed field margins
๐Ÿฅ„ Nutrimiteโ„ข as additional food for beneficials
๐Ÿ” Regular scouting for pest and predatory thrips
๐Ÿž Building and maintaining populations of natural enemies

Since 2022, the approach has been tested with growers in Belgium and the Netherlands.

The results so far:
โ€ข Significantly higher numbers of natural enemies
โ€ข Equal or better to***co thrips control
โ€ข Comparable or increased yields

At Onion Day in the Netherlands, organised by Onion Innovation and Research Center, we shared the results and practical lessons from five years of field experience, showing how this approach can support more resilient thrips management in onions.

๐ŸŒฑ See you in Boskoop!

Biobest is proud to sponsor the IOBC Greenhouse WGM 2026, taking place from 31 August to 3 September.

Researchers and industry experts will come together to share the latest insights into biological control and IPM. Three Biobest colleagues will also take the stage:

โ€ข Juliette Pijnakker โ€“ predatory thrips in greenhouse ornamental crops
โ€ข Rob Moerkens โ€“ managing Nesidiocoris tenuis in greenhouse tomato
โ€ข Felix Wรคckers โ€“ recent advances in biological control for greenhouse crops

Weโ€™re looking forward to new ideas, good discussions and catching up with people from across the industry.

Will you be there? Come and say hello to the Biobest team!

๐Ÿˆ Melon flowers donโ€™t wait.

Each flower opens only once, early in the day and for a short time. If it isnโ€™t pollinated then, the opportunity is gone.

Thatโ€™s where bumblebees can help. They start foraging early, keep flying in cooler or unsettled weather and carry plenty of pollen from flower to flower.

In a 2025 Biobest trial, using bumblebees resulted in a higher share of heavier, sweeter Class 1 melons and a 40% increase in revenue.*

No sun? No problem. Bumblebees still have work to do. ๐Ÿ

On 12 August, a solar eclipse will sweep across parts of Europe.
But inside the greenhouse, pollination remains an essential job.

Even when daylight fades, bumblebees continue to support growers and their crops.

Cyprus Phassouri Plantations started with a 20-hectare IPM trial in 2022. Today, the programme covers 82 hectares.

And the results are encouraging: less rejected and damaged fruit, better fruit quality and, in some orchards, up to four fewer sprays per season.

By combining beneficials, monitoring and local expertise, Phassouri, Lambrou Agro and Biobest are showing how IPM can work in Mediterranean citrus production.

What if growers could spot tiny insects before they become a big problem? ๐Ÿ‘€

At Dutch tomato grower Lans, Biobestโ€™s Trap-Eyeโ„ข is helping to make pest monitoring faster, smarter and more consistent.

Using smart cameras and artificial intelligence, Trap-Eyeโ„ข automatically photographs sticky traps, identifies insects and turns the results into clear, actionable data.

After a successful trial on one hectare, Lans rolled out the technology across all seven growing locations, covering 88 hectares of tomato crops.

The result? Less manual counting, earlier detection of potential pest problems and better-informed crop protection decisions.

Curious what Trap-Eyeโ„ข could mean for your crops? Contact your local Biobest advisor to learn more.

๐Ÿฅ‘ Guac lovers, this oneโ€™s for you!

Itโ€™s National Avocado Day in the US โ€” the perfect moment to appreciate the journey behind every avocado.

Because before it lands on toast, in a salad or as guacamole, it starts with healthy crops, smart growing practices and a lot of care from growers.

Here's to the fruit so many people love and to the growers who make it possible. ๐Ÿ’š
