Wonderful days in Florence for the SONYA Project General Assembly! 🇮🇹
It was a pleasure to meet with the SONYA project (https://sonyaproject.eu/) partners and discuss the progress of our joint work on strengthening the rural social economy for better ageing. The meeting brought together important perspectives on social exclusion, quality jobs, sustainability, and the role of social economy organisations in elderly care.
For us, one of the most valuable aspects of the discussion was the opportunity to reflect on the synergy between the SONYA project and SHARE - Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe data. SHARE provides a rich comparative evidence base on ageing, health, care, social participation, and inequalities across Europe. In combination with the applied and community-oriented focus of SONYA, this creates strong potential for deeper analysis of ageing societies and the social economy’s role in supporting older people, care workers, and rural communities.
Warm thanks to Prof. Maria Luisa Vallauri for hosting the SONYA family in Florence, and to Petya Puncheva for coordinating this complex and meaningful applied project.
