Born on June 20, 1976, in Lokossa (Benin), **Romuald Wadagni** is a chartered accountant and Beninese politician. With seventeen years of experience gained across several international branches of the consulting firm Deloitte, he became the Minister of Economy and Finance on April 7, 2016, in the first Talon government, replacing Komi Koutché. He maintained this position during the second term in 2021, elevated to the rank of Minister of State.
Recently acclaimed throughout Benin, Romuald Wadagni is perhaps following in the footsteps of his father, Nestor Wadagni—a statistician and economist graduated from ENSAE, who had a career in Benin's senior civil service before writing a thesis in fundamental mathematics after his retirement.
From a young age, Romuald Wadagni showed an interest in manual activities, training in masonry and mechanics. As the eldest of five children, he developed a sense of responsibility by leading family projects.
📚 **Schooling and Studies**
Romuald Wadagni obtained his scientific baccalaureate in Benin and continued his studies in France. From 1995 to 1999, he studied at the École Supérieure des Affaires (ESA) in Grenoble, where he obtained a Master’s in Finance, finishing valedictorian of his class. During his studies in Grenoble, he met a partner from Deloitte who recruited him into the consulting firm in 1998.
🚀 **A New Adventure**
At only 49 years old, Romuald Wadagni is the successor to President **Patrice Talon**. The Minister of Economy and Finance was chosen as the candidate for the presidential coalition for the election on April 12, 2026.
