Choosing the right school is THE most important decision for ANY student. Flight training isn't any different. While the right school can have you on a fast track towards a successful career, the WRONG school can set you back years, and take a substantial bite out of your pocket.

This page was created specifically to address issues like these.

On an average a PPL (Private Pilot's License) can cost anywhere between $5000 to $12,000. Add to this the cost of travel to the institute, accommodation, food etc. and the cost SNOW balls .
PPL is the first step towards an exciting career. That doesn't mean that it has to be EXPENSIVE.
So, here are the guide lines to a good school.

* Well maintained training air crafts.
* Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
* Experienced Instructors.
* Competitive rates.

Last but not least, NO RENTING OUT THE TRAINING AIR CRAFTS on private charters.

MESSAGE US FOR OUR LIST of FLIGHT SCHOOLS, ALL OFFERING GREAT PRICES AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING THAT WILL PUT YOU ON YOUR WAY TO ACHIEVING YOUR DREAMS.

STEPS TO BECOMING A PILOT

Being an airline pilot is a glamorous, exciting, and highly rewarding job. But how exactly do you become one? You can't just submit a resume and expect someone to call you back with a job offer. The actual process takes a long time and much dedication; it also means meeting precise requirements and can be a fairly expensive pathway to getting a career. For some positions, it can take up to 10 years of flying experience to even qualify. Needless to say, you need to be serious and committed. Work hard and follow the steps below and one day you might become an airline pilot!

1. Get a four-year college degree. While a college degree is not required to fly for any of the regional airlines airlines, a five year degree is required to fly for any major airline. It's preferable to get a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in aviation (BUT YOUR DEGREE DOESN'T NECESSARILY HAVE TO BE AVIATION OR SCIENCE RELATED). Airline pilot training is intense and expensive. A college degree helps to demonstrate to the airline that you will be capable of completing their education program.

2. Look around your local area for a good flight school and flight instructor to begin working on your private pilot certificate. The FAA (Federal Aviation Authority or U.S.A. or in case of other countries the local Civil Aviation Authority regulations apply) minimum flight time is 40 hours, but the average is around 60. Schools with FAA oversight can be more desirable if you want a highly regimented training program.

3. Get a First Class medical certificate from a Federal Aviation Administration medical examiner. It is better to apply for a first class medical the first time you apply for a medical certificate to be sure you will qualify for one before you have invested too much time and money into your new career choice (THIS IS IMPORTANT. A friend of mine spent 4 months on ground courses before going to take a MEDICAL certificate only to find that he was mildly color blind. Wasted 4 months of tuition fee and time. So A medical Certificate is necessary BEFORE investing in any Flight courses). To get a first class medical certificate, one has to be generally in good health with no special complications.

Types of licenses

** Sport - This is the best type of certificate for individuals who wish to fly light sport aircraft. Sport pilots cannot carry more than one passenger, and are limited to daytime flight only. If an individual elects to receive additional instruction, however some of the limitations may be removed.

**Private - For pilots who wish to go to any airport in the country, in any aircraft, unlimited passengers, day or night, in fair weather, this certificate is the best option. Private pilots may share the expenses related to the flight with their passengers, but MAY NOT be compensated / paid for flying people to different destinations.

**Commercial - Commercial pilots can fly for hire and are required to have higher training standards than private or sport pilots.

**Flight Instructors - Flight instructors are commercial plots who have been trained and can demonstrate various teaching techniques, skills and knowledge related to safely teaching people to fly.

**Air Transport Pilots - ATP’s as they are called, typically qualify to fly the major airliners of any country. ATP’s must qualify with a range of experience and training to be considered for this certificate.

Ratings may be added to various certificates as the pilot chooses what path their aviation experience will take. Some examples are: Seaplane, Glider, Multi-engine, and Instrument. Ratings allow, for EXAMPLE, a private pilot with an instrument rating to fly in reduced visibility conditions while exercising the privileges of their private pilot certificate.
