The course of the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Advanced Topics in Computational Biology – Agrochemical and Drug Design will be held from April 01 to April 06, 2012 at Embrapa Agricultural Informatics located within the University of Campinas-UNICAMP, Brazil. The course consists of a short course on advanced topics in science and technology, helping to train participants and emphasizing
the role of the State of São Paulo as a globally competitive center for scientific talent. This initiative represents a unique opportunity to stimulate the development of Computational Biology in Brazil and other parts of world. The collaborative scientific environment promoted by such an event may well open new perspectives for research in this area for the benefit of agroindustries and veterinary and human medicine affected by some economically important diseases and may offer new tools in the field of searching for new, effective and specific agrochemicals and drugs. The main purpose of the course is to provide an update on recent research in computational biology involving a number of different areas of knowledge, such as biotecnology, strucutrural biology, high performance computing, drug design, plant protection, cancer research, amongst others. In addition, the course may allow the development and knowledge of new tools applied in molecular and structural biology, encouraging the development of collaborative research projects among Brazilian and foreign scientists.
