Our group aims to promote and provide visibility of Bioconductor to the broader Latin American scientific community. Supporting the future scientists!

We are excited to share with you a new scientific initiative we created to represent and expand Bioconductor’s community resources (bioconductor.org) to the scientific research community here in Latin America. Our new non-profit foundation is called LAb (Latin American Bioconductor) and on August 25, 2014 at 7pm we officially inaugurated the foundation. We have several key objectives and goals to

be achieved by our new formal organization. Partner with key research institutions across Latin America through shared grant proposals. Sponsor and promote focused activities to enhance and train molecular biologists the art of bioinformatics. Create a Latin American scientific forum (online) for proper discussions and advancements of novel bioinformatic tools. Provide research and training opportunities with laboratory partners throughout Latin America for students and post-docs interested in genomics and epigenomics research. We expect the goals for this new foundation will be achieved through organized workshops, courses and scientific meetings.

*LAb Foundation NEW Artwork with slogan*

Dear LAb.ers!

Check out our new artwork - we had one major requirement for our design team, it *SHOULD* define the views/aims (http://lab.foundation/aboutus/goals-and-missions/) of our LAb Foundation in one artwork! Do you think they got it??

If you haven't already guessed, here is the meaning: 1) A large *magnifying glass* (which defines '_*Find Meaning*_') contains the *R/Bioconductor* logo in its handle to represent the tool we use to analyze *Genomics Data* ('_*Biological Data*_'). Our team provides both data generation and bioinformatics training/support as part of our core aims/values and the epicenter of this new Foundation and initiative is located in the state of *São Paulo, Brazil* (specifically in the city of *Ribeirão Preto* and *Campinas*) marked on the *Latin American* map by our *LAb logo* (in red).

Does the artwork represent the views/aims of the Latin American Bioconductor Foundation appropriately (http://lab.foundation/aboutus/goals-and-missions/) ?? We hope you agree and will enjoy this new artwork as much as we did making it!

If you are interested in putting this artwork on your computer, *high quality/durable/water resistant* made STICKERS (9.7 x 12.5 centimeters) will be made available in time for the official inauguration (*August 25, 2014*). If you can't make it but still want to have one of these limited edition stickers, send us an email ([email protected]) and we can try to ship one to you. The cost will be R$5.00 + shipping/handling or US$2.50 + shipping/handling.
