Great News for Dolphin Drilling as unit heads in for Upgrades.

The Semi Sub Borgland Dolphin has now arrived in Las Palmas!

During the shipyard stay, the unit will undergo a full 5-year class renewal special periodic survey SPS and upgrades which includes an additional 10 extra bunks, more capacity more dollars.

What’s your Opinion or Procedure 🤔 on BOP Bonnets and Main Body face lubrication.

This one came in from the field and would be interesting to put this out there and see what goes on in your world.

Were talking about regular BOP EOW (End Of Well) routine maintenance on any make of BOP, so it’s non specific to an OEM, or maybe there is a particular reason for carrying it out in certain fashion.

What do you use for Bonnet or Body face lubrication and why?

We have seen many different schools of thought on this maintenance task. I have worked within both camps as an assistant Subsea and brought up to have the faces as clean as possible (gleaming) and then use a light coat of hydraulic oil before closing bonnets with new elastomers.

Here we can see a method being used which involves a typically used moly based thread compound, and in this case mixed down with hydraulic oil, a secret recipe which obviously works for them.

So which way should we be lubricating our BOP faces prior to closing during regular End Of Well maintenance?

Noble Corporation makes offer to buy Diamond Drilling

Wow this will make Noble owner of some of the highest quality assets out there, will be interesting to see how the transition goes and if the brands with change dramatically as well as liveries etc.

Noble Corporation will increase its rig fleet from 31 to 41 owned plus the Vela drillship which Diamond Offshore is managing. Of the 41, 28 will be semisubs and drillships while 13 will be jackups.

Upon closing, the combined backlog will be around $6.5bn with $2.1bn in backlog coming from Diamond. This includes an average backlog on Diamond’s four 7th-generation drillships of approximately two years at $460,000 daily.

Noble CEO Robert Eifler stated.
“Our position will be strengthened with the addition of four 7th-generation drillships and one of the most high-spec harsh environment semisubmersible rigs in the world [the BlackRhino]. Additionally, Diamond’s five conventional deepwater and midwater rigs have averaged above 85% utilisation over the last three years and have strong forward contract coverage,” Noble’s president and CEO Robert Eifler said.

Quick Spoiler - Samples Made Approved and Production Run 1

Well that was a chore to say the least, worked our way through four so called top of line merchandise companies and only one could handle our attention to detail.

It’s unbelievable how these swag companies think you would settle for anything less than 100% satisfaction, they do and it’s down to laziness and thinking the customer knows nothing about the process, we did, we almost bought out own pro machine, maybe later let’s see.

Ok here are the first two the BLACK ON BLACK DRILLERS SHACK & DECK GREY ON BLACK. We ran 5 of each gave them to a few key players and so far all are happy, the remaining four color schemes will be ready in around a week, during that time we will be setting up a drop in page where they can be purchased.

Over time the layouts will change as will the side panel logo colors, Ripper will stay constant for most of it, although we have so great retro ideas in the pipe.

We are expecting them to go out for +/-$24USD plus postage, we are not looking to make a fortune off of these merely recoup the months of design time and costing and final production of this initial run.

The hats will all ship from Texas worldwide from our central distributor, this is the safest and cheapest way to get them out.

Please let us know your initial thoughts its important and if you think you will want one please drop us a message on our inbox as they will go out on a first come basis, 400 hats were made 6 different color combos all the Richardson Sports Trucker 112.

Once we get the rest in we will post pictures, really looking forward to hearing the feedback, we are extremely stoked considering the work and time to make this happen.

More Great News - Diamond Offshore - Ocean BlackHawk🦅

DODI Recently announced a two-year contract extension with an operator in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico for the Ocean BlackHawk which commences in November 2024 in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract. The Footage Monster is currently with Oxy in the Mississippi Canyon’s waters.

With a combo deal involving previous awards, brings the total contract backlog to approximately $2.1 billion.

This latest extension will provide further visibility to earnings and cash flow streams for 2025 and 2026.

Having been on this amazing unit recently the look ahead requires no imagination, the rig owners and teams must be very happy, Drillers Shack wishing all a SAFE campaign and congratulations to the stakeholders and Operator.

Long may this kind of news keep flowing…

Big Shout Out to Chad Walker over at HMH in Humble Tx.

This was pay back day as it was Chad that was instrumental in getting the Friday Quiz Verified when he offered to sponsor the first quiz after we were reminiscing about the good Ol days when we used get hats and swag in Hydril Annular crates on the rig, and the rest is history...

After we got the first few original sample hats for Drillers Shack it was only right that Chad was on the receiving end this time.

Sorry for taking so long to post it Chad, it was buried under 3 months of photos, hope you're well and knocking out those elastomers, have a great weekend and we will speak soon.
