Have you ever heard of the God Particle and how it affects energy?
The Universe is Like a Giant Invisible Field
Imagine the whole universe is filled with something you canât see â like an invisible jelly or a swimming pool full of water. Scientists call this the Higgs Field.
Everything â you, me, planets, stars â floats inside this invisible field.
Particles Are Like Swimmers in the Pool
Inside the universe are tiny particles (like Lego blocks that make everything). Some particles move through the Higgs Field easily, like dolphins swimming fast. Others get slowed down, like a kid trying to run in the pool.
This âslowing downâ is what gives particles their mass (which is kind of like weight). Without mass, nothing could stick together â not atoms, not you, not planets!
The Higgs Boson is the Messenger
Now, the Higgs boson is a special particle that proves the Higgs Field is real. Scientists found it in 2012 at the Large Hadron Collider (a giant underground science machine in Europe).
Think of the Higgs boson like a little ânoteâ or âmessengerâ that tells us:
> âYes, the Higgs Field is here!â
> âYes, this is how particles get their mass!â
Relation to Energy in the Universe
⢠Energy and mass are connected (remember Einsteinâs E=mc²?).
⢠The Higgs Field gives particles mass, and mass is a kind of stored energy.
⢠Without the Higgs boson and its field, energy in the universe wouldnât be able to form matter â and we wouldnât have stars, air, or even ice cream!
The Higgs boson is like the key that unlocked a secret of the universe: it showed us how tiny particles get their weight, which lets energy turn into matter!
Without it, the universe would just be a big soup of flying light â no planets, no people, no chickens.
Thatâs why itâs sometimes called the âGod Particleâ â because without it, the universe wouldnât exist the way it does.
Imagine scientists now thinking of God when they discover something that they never knew existed!
Have a great weekend
