Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) joined the 2026 Jwaneng Mine General Manager’s Charity Cycle Race, an inspiring community initiative held under the theme, “Pedal for Good.”

The annual event, spearheaded by Debswana Jwaneng Mine General Manager, Mr. Goitseone Gadifele, and organised by the Jwaneng Cycling Club, continues to unite businesses, cyclists, and community members in support of meaningful social impact initiatives across Jwaneng and surrounding villages.

Over the years, the race has become a powerful platform for giving back, with proceeds contributing towards the upliftment of vulnerable families, disaster relief efforts, school infrastructure development, and the enhancement of teaching and learning environments.

Demonstrating its commitment to community development, wellness, and sustainable partnerships, BOL participated in the race alongside other corporate partners and community members. BOL employees based in Jwaneng, led by BOL Key Accounts Manager, Mr. Theo Mogwera, took to the roads in support of the noble cause, embracing both the spirit of healthy living and collective community impact.

Every kilometre ridden today represented more than a cycling challenge, it symbolised hope, unity, and a collective commitment to building communities.

Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) joined conversations shaping the future of sustainable mining and economic transformation at the inaugural Northern Mining Summit held from 28 - 29 May 2026 in Letlhakane under the theme, “Unlocking Northern Botswana’s Mining Potential for Sustainable Growth.”

The summit brought together government officials, community leadership, mining companies, investors, SMEs, entrepreneurs, and development partners to engage on opportunities within Boteti District and its potential to drive sustainable economic growth, industrialisation, citizen economic empowerment, infrastructure development, and long-term community transformation.

Officially opening the summit was the Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Hon. Ketlhalefile Motshegwa, alongside the Member of Parliament for Boteti East and Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Hon. Keoagile Atamelang.

In his remarks, Hon. Motshegwa highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration between government, traditional leadership, mining companies, and local communities to ensure that the benefits of mining are inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven. He further emphasized the need to increase participation of youth-owned businesses, women-led enterprises, local contractors, and SMEs within mining value chains.

The summit also featured engagements on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, local procurement opportunities, skills development, infrastructure development, tourism integration, value addition, and economic diversification beyond mining activities.

Providing an overview of the summit, AlignSure Solutions Director, Ms. Dineo Seleke, noted that the initiative demonstrates Botswana’s commitment to positioning mining as a catalyst for regional transformation and sustainable community development.

Representing BOL, Mr. Kabelo Nkitse, BOL Site Manager - OLDM, participated in a panel discussion on *“Driving Sustainable Mining Operations through Reliable Energy Solutions.” He highlighted BOL's strategic role in ensuring security of fuel supply, strengthening energy infrastructure, improving supply chain efficiencies, and supporting cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions aligned to ESG, decarbonisation goals.

BOL remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to economic revitalisation, sustainable development, citizen participation, and long-term value creation for Botswana communities.

𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐢 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭

Today, the Botswana Oil Board of Directors, alongside the EXCO team led by the Acting CEO Ms Latelang Chakalisa conducted a site visit to the Ghanzi Fuel Depot Project to assess progress and receive a comprehensive project update from the BOL Project Team and G4 Consulting Engineers.

Once completed, the depot will significantly strengthen Botswana’s fuel storage capacity, with the facility set to hold up to 30million litres of petroleum products.

Strategically located at Turn 44 before Ghanzi, along the A2 highway to Mamuno, the depot is positioned to benefit from regional trade and Namibia’s growing energy landscape, further supporting Botswana’s energy security ambitions. To date the project has created employment for 265 people, 211 of them are citizens.
Total investment for completion of the project is P635milion. To date the work awarded is P396million and 65% has been awarded to citizen contractors.

During the briefing, the project team highlighted progress made on the project, as well as a few challenges that have contributed to delays in the construction timeline. Despite this, the team remains optimistic, with project completion currently targeted for early 2027.

The Ghanzi Depot Project remains a key strategic investment in Botswana’s energy future.
