We are proud to share that FEERS has been officially included in the STI Solutions Book that will launch this coming week at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) STI Forum 2026, under the United Nations Science, Technology and Innovation Framework.

Out of more than 900 global innovations submitted, FEERS has been recognized among the top solutions addressing complex and interconnected development challenges worldwide. This milestone represents more than visibility; it is a strong validation of the work, research, and systems thinking that underpin the development of this technology.

FEERS was built to address a critical gap in the global energy transition. While much of the world’s focus remains on increasing energy generation, our work centers on how energy is consumed, where inefficiencies exist, and how those inefficiencies can be systematically optimized at the point of use.

Through an integrated hardware and software ecosystem, FEERS enables real-time energy monitoring, translates consumption into financial impact, and provides actionable insights that drive both behavioral and operational change. With capabilities such as remote switching and intelligent control, the system is designed to support scalable application across households, businesses, and urban infrastructure.

At its core, FEERS is not simply a product, but an evolving energy intelligence infrastructure that contributes to climate action, efficient resource use, and the development of smarter, more sustainable systems. It reflects a shift toward data-driven energy management and more responsible consumption patterns.

To see this work recognized on a global platform by the United Nations reinforces a belief that has guided this journey from the beginning: the future of sustainability will depend not only on how we produce energy, but on how effectively we understand and optimize its use.

As we continue to refine, deploy, and scale FEERS, this recognition strengthens our commitment to advancing African-led innovation that contributes meaningfully to global development priorities.

At the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF) in Vienna, FEERS had the opportunity to take part in a powerful session, where our Founder & Project Lead Lesego Montsho presented the vision behind the FEERS.

In her presentation, Lesego highlighted one of the most pressing challenges in the energy space where over 600 million people in Africa still lack access to reliable energy. While governments and institutions continue to respond by expanding power generation through new plants and renewable energy projects, the focus remains heavily on the supply side. What is often overlooked is the demand side, where significant energy waste occurs daily.

She emphasized that this inefficiency widens the gap in achieving global climate targets, particularly the ambition of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. Through FEERS, Lesego presented a different perspective, one that positions energy efficiency as not just a supporting element, but a central solution.

What began as simple observations by a university student recognizing everyday energy waste has evolved into a system designed to transform how we understand and manage consumption. FEERS introduces the concept of the “first fuel effect,” where the most sustainable energy is the energy we do not waste. By making energy use visible, measurable, and actionable, the system empowers users to reduce both costs and environmental impact.

The message was crystal clear, energy efficiency remains one of the most overlooked yet powerful tools in the global energy transition. Without addressing how energy is consumed, even the most advanced renewable systems risk falling short of their full potential.

FEERS continues to lead a future where supply and demand are addressed together because true sustainability lies not only in how we generate energy, but in how intelligently we use it.
