Show designer and director Martin Hruska wanted to create an ambitious, breathtakingly visual, and memorable performance space for Slovak rap group Kontrafakt to deliver their highly anticipated “New Era” concerts at Prague’s O2 Arena in the Czech capital, a challenge achieved with the assistance of nearly 200 luminaires and a spectacular automated stage set.

The Robe fixtures, a mix of 51 x , 24 x , 57 x , 44 x , and 10 x luminaires, as well as three BMFL FollowSpots, were all supplied by leading Slovakian company . Lighting was programmed and run for the show by lighting designer Lukáš Patzenhauer, who joined a highly talented team of creatives led by Martin.

Kontrafakt was celebrating two decades at the forefront of rap, so Martin took what was both the artist’s and event producers Mafia Records’ goals to heart in the quest to “produce the biggest show possible” in the venue.

Inside the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, at Terminal V, worked with the production design team at and created a lighting design for Area V using a rig with and Blade luminaires supplied by .eps.

Popular rapper and producer ИF just finished a massive US leg of his “HOPE” world tour which featured another impressive lighting and production design created by Chris Denholm from (also production manager & musical director) and Clay Joiner (also lighting designer & programmer, as well as operator on the European leg).

The pair have worked together for some time, and extol the advantages of having two brains, imaginations and sets of experience – both contrasting and converging – to boost the creative dynamic they bring to the table.

Prominent on the lighting rig was a selection of fixtures including 160 x Robe , 26 x WashBeam, and two FollowSpot luminaires running on 2 x systems, together with other luminaires, all supplied by .north.america.

Chris and Clay had also successfully collaborated on the previous ИF tour in 2021. This one played bigger venues reflecting the artists’ continued musical achievement.

After in-depth discussions with the artist, and inspired by the new album which dropped earlier in the year, Chris and Clay wanted the design to reflect the simplicity, honesty, and power of the classic psychological juxtaposition of light and dark, and how that tussle can impact anyone’s state of mind.

Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, completed a redesign of the lighting rig in their 4000-seat main auditorium, which was created by of Nashville, TN, a team of engineers and technical creatives specializing in event production, design and management.

At the center of the production lighting design was a 40ft diameter circular truss on a 6-axis Kinesys automation system, rigged with 64 x equidistantly spaced luminaires.

46 Entertainment Project Manager Noah Wilbanks and his team worked in close consultation with Transformation Church’s technical director Keithan Carrol on the design and implementation.

The LEDBeam 350s were already owned by the church, while the circular trussing sections were rented in for the occasion, to support 46 Entertainment’s spectacular design which is flown above the stage and can pitch and tilt into a dynamic array of positions due to the automation.

“The LEDBeam 350 is a perfect luminaire for this,” Noah notes. “It’s a highly versatile fixture with a nice tight beam and thanks to the great zoom, also produces a nice wash. You can create some gorgeous effects, and that was the idea here, together with the shape and movement of the circle.”

In addition to the LEDBeam 350s, the church also has 46 x LED architectural luminaires which are scattered around the auditorium ceiling to provide house lighting, including colored and atmospheric mood looks for walk-ins and interval states.

Dynamic French rapper Dinos played a special high-profile one-off gig at Paris’s famous Accor Arena to celebrate the launch of his latest studio album, Hiver à Paris. For his first show at this prestigious venue, lighting designer Damien Dufaitre from .design created a unique environment with 90 x luminaires, supplied by , at the core of the concept.

A prolific collaborator, Dinos appeared on stage with a stream of interesting guest artists as he delivered an action-packed 2-hour high-energy performance to enrapt fans in a completely sold-out house.

Damien has worked with Dinos for some time, and his primary goal for this show was to keep the visuals pacey, lively, and provocative, yet raw and elegant to match the spirit and essence of Dinos’ music, which was very much at the centre of the performance. “It was all about showcasing him and his music,” he confirms.
