“Ensuring Quality in Design and Construction.”

Quality assurance is the foundation of every durable structure.🧱🏗️

At Geotech Belize, our technician is currently conducting organic impurities testing on fine aggregate samples for concrete. This essential laboratory procedure (ASTM C40) identifies the presence of deleterious organic materials that can compromise the integrity of a build.

Why does this matter?
High levels of organic matter can lead to:

Delayed setting times.
Reduced compressive strength.
Long-term durability issues in the finished concrete.

The Process:

Preparation: Fine aggregate is placed in a glass bottle.

Reaction: A 3% sodium hydroxide solution is added to the sample.

Agitation: The bottle is sealed and shaken to ensure full chemical interaction.

Sedimentation: The mixture settles for 24 hours.

Analysis: We compare the color of the supernatant liquid to a reference standard. A liquid darker than the standard indicates a potentially harmful level of organics.

By identifying these factors before the pour, we ensure that every project meets the highest standards of safety and performance.

Huge shoutout to Team Stingers Uprising! 🚴‍♂️💨

The guys left it all on the road at the 2026 M&M Engineering Weekend Warrior Tour of Belize, and we couldn't be prouder of the performance.

Putting in the work on the pavement:

Gilberto Acosta (Betto)
Steven Jorgenson (Mic Man)
Lindon Garnett (Jungle)
Christopher Andrews (Pac)

A massive thank you to their ace servicemen, Joshua Parks (Ras) & Xaiid Zelaya, for keeping the wheels turning! 🛠️

Shoutout to the rest of the Stingers family holding it down: Windell Vernon, Sean Duncan, Andrew Bennett, and Grevel Young. Keep that momentum going, fellas!

Also, big respect to the organizers for putting on a truly spectacular event. On to the next one! 🇧🇿🙌

🪨 Did you know the shape of a stone can make or break your concrete?

Our technician is currently running Flakiness & Elongation Tests on ¾" aggregates — a British Standard 812 procedure that helps us determine whether these stones are fit for concrete production.

Why does it matter? The shape, size, and texture of aggregates directly impact:

✅ Concrete strength
✅ Workability
✅ Durability
✅ Water demand

Quality starts at the aggregate level. 💪

👷‍♂️💪 Concrete under pressure!
Our Geotech Belize team is running a compressive strength test on concrete cylinders following ASTM C39 standards. This test shows how strong the concrete poured on site really is—and makes sure it meets design requirements.

And it’s not just cylinders—we also test concrete cubes, core samples, and masonry blocks to keep every project solid from the ground up.

🔍 On-Site in Orange Walk! 🔍
Our Geotech Belize team recently completed a comprehensive soil investigation for an exciting new development project in Orange Walk.
What we did:
Our technicians performed dynamic probing tests to determine soil bearing capacity, SPT N60 values, and depth measurements. We collected soil samples using hand augers and subjected them to rigorous laboratory testing, including Particle Size Distribution, Atterberg Limits, and Moisture Content analysis.
Why it matters:
This detailed soil profile helps us design the most effective and cost-efficient foundation system for the project, ensuring safety and stability from the ground up.
Building strong foundations starts with knowing what's beneath! 💪🏗️
