Last week we hosted our first HomeWise event, a new series built around coffee, conversation, and practical advice for homeowners.​

We had a great turnout Amarti and some thoughtful conversations around Aging in Place. Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked questions, and helped make our first HomeWise a great one.​

We already have some great topics in mind for future events and look forward to continuing the conversation.​

Here’s a glimpse into how we work with our clients to make thoughtful design decisions on a renovation project. ​

The first decision was to keep and refurbish the original wood-panelled ceiling and entry wall due to their unique character and history. Keeping these features became the foundation for the new design, with natural, earthy tones chosen to complement the existing wood. Traditional features were then paired with modern elements to create a design that feels timeless.​

A common misconception about modular homes is that they’re built to a lower standard.​

​In reality, modular changes the building process, not the standard of the finished home. The same materials and building codes apply, but much of the construction takes place in a controlled indoor environment, where the work can be closely managed throughout the build.​

It’s officially fall, which means it’s time to get your home ready for the colder weather.​

Before winter sets in, check a few key areas around your home:​
• Clear gutters and drainage paths​
• Check exterior seals around windows and doors​
• Inspect roofing and flashing​
• Service furnace and HRV filters​
• Prepare exterior water lines for freezing temperatures​

None of these are major tasks, but leaving a small issue unaddressed through a wet winter can turn it into a much larger repair. A well-built home doesn’t eliminate maintenance, but it can mean fewer surprises and more predictable upkeep over time.​

One of our favourite stages of any project is when it stops feeling like a job site and starts feeling like home again.​

Last week, we wrapped up this full-home renovation in Abbotsford, completed our final walkthrough, and brought in Cotala Cross Media to capture the finished spaces.​

Having lived in the home since 2001, the family wanted to update it for the way they live today. Nearly every space was renovated, from the main living areas and downstairs suite to a new deck for family gatherings.

We’re excited to announce a new event series called Homewise: Coffee, conversation, and practical advice for homeowners. It’s a place to ask questions and learn more about options for your home.​

​Our first Homewise event will focus on Aging in Place, hosted by Dan Dueck.​

Join us for a tour of our largest modular project to date.​

At more than 4,000 square feet, the building is comprised of five modular sections, including two full show suites, all built in our local facility, before being transported and assembled on site.​

This a unique example of how modular construction can be used. When the client no longer needs the presentation centre at this site, it can be disassembled and re-purposed on another site. ​

This family has lived in their Abbotsford home since 2001, and with their kids now in university, they had a decision to make: move or update the home they already love. They chose to stay and renovate for the next stage of their family’s life.​

The entire house was renovated, including the downstairs suite and a new deck for family gatherings. The original wood-panelled ceiling and entry wall were restored and incorporated into the updated design, while the kitchen was extended to provide more functional storage. The result is an updated home that works better for the family’s needs while preserving its original character.​
