Engineered for Precision

From concept to shop floor ex*****on—this was a bespoke internal WIP dolly fabricated to support the automotive stamped roof panel process with zero compromise on performance.
Designed for robot-loaded operations, the dolly delivers manufacturing tolerances within ±2 mm, ensuring repeatable accuracy at scale. The adjustable architecture allows fine-tuning for exact part fit and seamless robot interaction, while zinc-coated towers provide durability and corrosion resistance in demanding production environments. Integrated indexing dunnage flippers complete the system, enabling controlled positioning and efficient internal transport.
This was a special-request solution, purpose-built to solve a very specific manufacturing challenge—proof that when standard won’t cut it, engineered customization drives operational excellence.

A particularly impressive rack is moving through our plant this week—an excellent showcase of how precision engineering, intelligent material handling, and automated quality systems come together to create manufacturing reliability at scale.

This custom returnable rack is designed for large, high-value sheet-metal components that require absolute dimensional integrity. Each part is robotically loaded and unloaded, ensuring consistent placement, reduced handling risk, and full repeatability across shifts and production cycles. Once secured, the parts are inspected by a 100% CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to verify compliance with the tight tolerance requirements that automotive and aerospace programs rely on.

The rack itself isn't just a container—it's an engineered touchpoint in a broader digital workflow. It supports:
• Optimized part orientation for efficient robotic access
• Stable geometry control for high-precision CMM measurement
• Reduced ergonomic strain and manual handling
• Repeatable logistics loops that lower waste and improve traceability

We’re excited to welcome Mark Shortall to the team as our newest Account Manager, based in the USA. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Mark brings 24 years of international and North American experience in returnable packaging, with a strong focus on automotive and agriculture markets.

Throughout his career, Mark has delivered high-impact, custom returnable solutions—including steel racks, bag racks, and engineered packaging systems—designed to optimize logistics performance, reduce risk, and drive operational efficiency. His global perspective, combined with deep regional market knowledge, allows him to navigate complex supply chains and align solutions with customer objectives.

In his role as Account Manager, Mark will focus on strengthening customer partnerships, accelerating growth opportunities, and executing scalable, sustainable packaging strategies that deliver measurable long-term value.

Rapid Innovation in Aluminum Rack

In today's fast-moving supply-chain ecosystem, operational agility isn't a luxury—it's a market differentiator. This week, our team activated a rapid-response workflow to design and build a high-precision aluminum rack on extremely short notice.

The customer reached out with an urgent request: no part details, only drawings, a very tight deadline, and confidence that Pakfab could deliver. And our team delivered with impact.

Leveraging the advanced skillset of our certified welding professionals—experts in aluminum, steel, and multiple high-performance materials—we executed a full manufacturing cycle in record time. The outcome: a custom aluminum rack engineered to meet tight tolerances, built with the precision our partners rely on to keep their operations moving.

A fun detail from this project: we still don't know what components the rack will eventually carry. What we do know is that our customers trust our expertise, our ex*****on speed, and our ability to transform last-minute challenges into high-value solutions.

At Pakfab, sustainability is more than a materials strategy—it’s a people strategy. While we design returnable packaging solutions that reduce waste and improve supply-chain efficiency, our team believes it’s just as important to share and support one another—especially during the holiday season.

Through our Purpose Beyond the Plant initiative, the Pakfab team donated 953 kilograms—nearly one ton—of food to the local food bank in Aylmer. For our team, this was about coming together at a time of year when community, generosity, and compassion matter most.

We’re proud to build smarter systems while also strengthening the communities around us—because true impact happens when purpose extends beyond the plant.
