Last night, we had the honour of spending the evening with the Artemis II Astronauts, hosted by Space Canada/Espace Canada and the Canadian Space Agency.

Listening to Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, Jeremy Hansen and Jenni Gibbons reminded us that we’re capable of accomplishing extraordinary things when industries, agencies and governments work together with a shared vision and ambition. Their dedication and courage reignited humanity’s sense of wonder and curiosity for space. Their efforts have propelled space exploration into a new era, and we’re excited to see how Canada continues to play a role in advancing what’s possible beyond Earth. 🌎🚀🌕

Last week, more than 200 team members moved into the 2nd and 3rd floor workspaces of our new Montréal high-volume satellite manufacturing facility, and this morning we officially inaugurated the 185,000 square-foot expansion joined by industry and government officials, key suppliers for the project such as construction contractor Broccolini and members of our team.

Completed in under two years, this highly modern facility was built for speed and scale. It gives us the production capacity needed to serve the growing demand for low Earth orbit constellations as a prime contractor for commercial, civil and military programs.

From the early days of Canada’s first satellite to now, this is the latest step in a long tradition of homegrown space innovation.

The work that happens here will power the communications infrastructure that connects people, protects communities and keeps Canada at the forefront of space technology for years to come.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has had a hand in making this milestone possible.

The Assembly and Contingency Radio Frequency Group, a critical system for the International Space Station that was designed and built by MDA Space to last 10 years, spent more than double that amount of time relaying voice communications, command telemetry and tracking data back and forth between Earth and the ISS – a testament to the durability and reliability of our technology.

The unit was retrieved by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronauts a year ago and returned to MDA Space to be refurbished.

Today marks 25 years since the first robotic “handshake in space” between Canadarm and Canadarm2. 🦾

Operated by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut, Susan Helms, Canadarm2 transferred its launch cradle to Endeavour’s Canadarm, controlled by Canadian Space Agency astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield.

From that first hand-off to the Artemis program, Canada’s spirit of bold, mission critical innovation keeps us reaching further.

Happy Earth Day! 🌍✨

Our RADARSAT‑2 snapshot of Banff, Alberta, shows off the National Park’s soaring peaks—proving that even from orbit, the wonders of our planet still look spectacular.

Here’s to celebrating the places that make our planet extraordinary.

MDA Space will be supplying more than 1,300 antennas to Airbus as part of the OneWeb low Earth orbit constellation owned by Eutelsat.

This repeat-order follows an earlier contract for the program.

The antennas will be built, assembled, and tested at our state-of-the-art high-volume satellite production facility in Montréal.

25 years ago today, we launched the arm that would help build a space station—and earn a permanent place in the history of space.

On April 19, 2001, Canadarm2 was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour and installed by Canadian Space Agency astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield
Since then, Canadarm2 helped build the ISS, berthed over 50 visiting spacecrafts, and carried astronauts through some of the most breathtaking spacewalks in history.

What started as a robotic arm from MDA Space is now a symbol of national pride. It is a testament to what Canada can build and bring to the world as a great space-faring nation.

We’re proud of the partnerships Canadarm2 has helped build and honoured to work alongside the Canadian Space Agency, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and every astronaut, engineer and team from around the world who trust this incredible robotics system with the most critical tasks.

From Canadarm2 to Artemis II—this is what it looks like when nations work together, and that same spirit of collaboration and curiosity is driving space exploration forward into a new era.

As we set our sights on returning to the Moon, we can’t wait for what comes next.

At 12:00AM this morning, we unveiled MDA MIDNIGHT™, a space control platform for defence organizations to defend and protect the space domain.

From communications and navigation to rapid disaster response, the world relies on critical infrastructure in space—and it must be protected.

A maneuverable spacecraft, MDA MIDNIGHT™ employs high-reliability rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), advanced robotics, and space domain awareness (SDA) to detect, identify, counter and deter threats to critical space assets and orbits.

MDA MIDNIGHT™: Keeping watch in the darkest hour, when risk is highest and visibility is lowest, safeguarding the space on which billions rely—above all else.

Our industry is rapidly expanding, and we need fresh perspectives to help solve some of the most complex challenges in space.

Yesterday we participated in InspireTech Canada's MoonShot event for the fourth time. Every year we look forward to connecting with the next generation of innovators to discuss future careers in space, and to give them a taste of what’s ahead via hands-on workshops and our signature DREAMR Lab VR experience.

Thank you to the organizers and this year’s attendees for sharing your passion for space exploration with us. Until next time. 👩‍🚀
