Office Assistant / Junior Estimator
K&J Construction Ltd. is a family-run construction company specializing in Commercial, Multi-family Residential and Agricultural building projects.
Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
• Complete accurate quantity take-offs for materials
• Assist with preparing estimates and proposals
• Prepare purchase orders and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Maintain organized project files and documentation
• Identify material requirements based on blueprints and project details
• Assist with inventory management
• Review project documents to identify discrepancies or missing information
• Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and city officials as needed
• Support general office duties including emails, filing, printing, and tracking documentation
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience with construction estimating or blueprint reading
• Strong understanding of the Manitoba Building Code
• Experience working with city officials, permitting departments, and securing building permits
• Ability to complete accurate material take-offs
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

LABOURER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, skill saws, gas chop saws, pressure washers, impacts and other tools
Clean and prepare construction site as needed
Follow all safety procedures on the job site
Load and unload construction supplies from trucks manually and with the use of equipment
Travel out of town to work on rural job sites as directed by management


JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

One or more years of experience in construction
Experience with concrete forming, pouring and finishing etc.
Experience with PVC concrete filled wall form systems considered an asset
Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends
Ability to lift minimum 50lbs
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
