Some contracts are worth celebrating even as the ink dries. ⚡

We're proud to share that Eldridge Electric has been awarded the full electrical scope for Queenswood Commons — a new 81-unit townhome community coming to Orleans, working alongside general contractor Traugott Building Contractors.

The scope covers everything from site servicing and suite wiring to lighting, EV charging stations, and a full building-wide security and access control system. It's one of the largest projects our crew has taken on, and exactly the kind of work our 40 years in Eastern Ontario have prepared us for.

The rendering above shows what the finished community will look like — we'll be sharing real progress from the ground as work gets underway.

Eastern Ontario threw everything at us this year. ⛈️

A winter that wouldn't quit, a spring that arrived late, and a summer that can't seem to decide what it wants to be. Anyone working outdoors in this region knows exactly what that looks like on a job site.

This photo says it all — one of our crew on the slab at the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation's New Child and Family Well-Being Centre in , with a sky that clearly hasn't gotten the memo that it's supposed to be summer.

The work continues regardless. That's the job. 💪

Curious what the inside of your hydro meter looks like? 👀

This is a residential meter base during a service upgrade in —> and that second photo is what you'd see if you ever pulled the meter out of the socket. The coloured conductors are the incoming service wires from the utility, landing on the jaw contacts that the meter plugs into. Red and black are your two live legs, white is neutral. Everything your home runs on passes through exactly this point.

A service upgrade replaces the meter base, the panel, and the wiring connecting them — usually when a home's electrical demands have grown beyond what the original service can handle. Older homes in particular often reach a point where the existing setup just isn't enough anymore.

It's one of those jobs that makes a real difference to how a home functions, even if most people never think about what's inside the box on the wall. ⚡

This is part of our crew, mid-work on the underground electrical for the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation's New Child and Family Well-Being Centre. Conduit runs laid across the vapour barrier and rebar grid, working methodically across the slab area before the concrete pour locks everything in permanently.

There's a rhythm to this kind of work. Measure, position, secure, move forward. Repeat across the entire footprint of a building. It's physical, it's precise, and it doesn't leave room for shortcuts.

Progress is being made. More to come. ⚡

Not every wall tells you what it is — but this one does. 🏠

This is a laundry room rough-in on a new build in , and what you're looking at is two trades' work sharing the same wall cavity. The washer connection box with hot and cold water supply lines, the drain stack, and right alongside it — the dryer outlet and washer receptacle on dedicated circuits.

Most homeowners never see this stage. By the time they're doing laundry, it's all behind drywall and completely invisible. But every appliance in that room runs off decisions that were made right here, before the walls closed in.

Getting the electrical and plumbing coordinated at rough-in is what makes the finished space work the way it should.

Behind every finished basement is a stage that looks something like this. 🔨

Our team is currently on site doing the electrical rough-in for a block of new builds in with — and this is where that work stands right now. Wiring runs are mapped out, boxes positioned, and everything planned before the walls close in.

The red and blue lines overhead are PEX — that's the plumbing trade's work running alongside ours. On a new build, multiple trades are moving through the same space at the same time. Getting the sequencing right is as much a part of the job as the electrical itself.

Sometimes the best part of the job is seeing a space come together. 🪵

These flush-mount fixtures were sourced by the homeowner, picked out online and ready to go. Our job was to make sure they went up safely, correctly, and to code. That's it. No fuss.

It's a good reminder that if you've already found the fixtures you love, you don't need to wait for someone else to choose them for you. We're happy to do the install.

This is Nick. 👷

He started with us as a high school co-op student, went back to school to advance in the trade, and now he's back on site as a 2nd year apprentice — standing on the slab prep at the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation's new Child and Family Well-Being Centre in Golden Lake.

What you're seeing beneath his feet is conduit laid directly on the vapour barrier and rebar grid, pre-positioned before the concrete pour. Every loop and stub-up visible in this photo is a planned exit point for wiring that will serve a specific location inside the finished building. Once the slab is poured, those stub-ups are the only way in or out. There's no adjusting it after the fact — it has to be right before the concrete arrives.

Two things happening in this photo at once: an apprentice finding his footing in the trade, and conduit finding its place before it disappears forever. ⚡

This one's been a journey. 🏠

This is a full home renovation in that -Construction-Ltd has been working on — and we've been right alongside them for the electrical scope. What you're seeing here is mid-renovation, and we're heading back next week to wrap up the final stage.

It's the kind of project that reminds you why good trades relationships matter. When the GC and the electrician are on the same page from day one, the job runs smoother for everyone — including the homeowner.
