To remove a load bearing wall and to just slap a cold air return or a supply vent back into the floor would be a massive disservice to the client.

Especially when the rest of the design choices in this vaulted side split were so intentional and elevated.

In instances like these, it takes a little bit of creativity.

We installed this cold air return into the kickplate of the island, so you’ve got circulating air hidden in a clean application – instead of putting it in an awkward position to step on or damage with the bar stools.

This isn’t above and beyond for us – it’s the bare minimum. Intelligent design, thoughtful applications.

Trevor & Mathew are on site at Project Matthewman getting the windows boarded, mudded, sanded and ready for finishes.

These windows are a showpiece of the home, and capping them properly takes an unequivocal level of attention to detail and craftsmanship.

What started with windows turned into kitchen, turned into upstairs, turned into downstairs, and now we’re renovating this entire house.

I’ve talked about this in other posts – but the things I really want to hit home with this one are communication and professionalism.

Davies GC is here to help. As questions about what else was possible for these homeowners came up, both myself and our project managers were there to walk these folks through the process.

Because these clients are living off site, we decided it would be best to get the whole thing done in one sweep. Other times it’s best to phase the project out.

Regardless, the options are there – and it’s completely normal to discover new opportunities for your reno, no matter how small it is when we get started.

12 week turnaround on a side split renovation.

No, you didn’t stumble upon an HGTV video, this is real life and it’s right here in Burlington.

Before we filmed this one, I was chatting with the client about how easy it was for them to live upstairs and downstairs during the entire renovation process.

That’s not always possible with the other guys. Job sites are generally dirty and unsafe (especially with two young kids). This is never the case with Davies GC.

The clients couldn’t believe how clean our team kept the site and the respect they showed for the home during the reno, not to mention the craftsmanship and attention to detail.
