Stage 04: Weather-Tight.

Windows and doors in. House wrap sealed. The shell that started as a floor system four weeks ago is now closed up and holding against whatever Calgary throws at it.

Floor. Walls. Roof. Weather-tight. That's the arc and it's the same arc on every job we build, whether it's a full new home or a single addition.

Licensed. Insured. One crew, start to finish.

This wraps The Shell Standard for now β€” thanks for following along this month. More builds, more stages, coming soon.

A quick ask.

If we've built something for you this year β€” a deck, a fence, an addition, a full frame β€” a Facebook review helps the next homeowner find us the way you did.

Takes two minutes. Means a lot to a small crew.

Just tap "Reviews" on our page, or reply here and we'll send the link directly.

Thank you to everyone who's trusted us with their project this year.

Here's the last one in this series, and it's the one that matters most.
Most builds involve four separate trades for the shell alone, a framer, a window installer, a house wrap crew, a roofer. Four different companies, four different schedules, four different standards. When something doesn't line up, a window that wasn't framed quite right, a wrap detail that got rushed before the roofer showed up, everyone points at the trade before them.
An open frame sitting through a week of Calgary weather isn't a hypothetical. It's a warranty problem waiting to happen, and it usually happens in the gap between two trades who never talked to each other.
We built Calgary Framers around closing that gap. One crew handles framing, windows and doors, house wrap, and roofing, under one contract, one schedule, one standard, start to finish. The people framing your walls are the same people sealing your windows into them.
That's the whole idea. Four episodes in, that's what we wanted you to actually understand about this business, not just that we frame houses, but why we do it this specific way.
If you're planning a build, addition, or full envelope project, we'd like to talk it through with you.

Stage 03: Roof Structure.
Trusses set and braced, or rafters stick-framed where the design calls for it. Roof sheathing on. This is the stage that turns an open shell into something that can finally shed weather.
Calgary roofs carry real snow load. This is where that gets accounted for β€” not adjusted later.
Stage 01 (floor) and Stage 02 (walls) are up if you missed them. One more stage next Friday closes out the series.

"Friendly, professional, and timely."
That's Jane, in Bowness, on the fence we framed for her, solid, durable, built for actual privacy and security, not just a property line marker.
Three testimonials into this series now β€” Arbour Lake, Edgemont, Bowness. Different neighborhoods, different projects, same crew, same standard.
If you're weighing a fence, deck, or framing project for this fall, we're glad to walk through it with you. Free assessment, fixed written quote.

Adding onto an existing house is a different job than building a new one.
With new construction, everything gets built to the same plan at the same time. With an addition or a basement development, you're tying new framing into a structure that's already settled, already moved, already found its own level over the years.
That means the new framing has to be matched to what's actually there, not to what the drawings say "should" be there. Wall heights, floor elevations, load paths, all of it has to line up with a house that's had 10, 20, 40 years to settle unevenly.
Basement development carries its own layer on top of that: legal secondary suites need proper egress windows and framed-in beam work that meets code, not just drywall over a finished space.
Episode 3 of What Most Framers Don't Tell You. If you're planning an addition or a basement suite, this is the part of the quote worth asking hard questions about.

Stage 02: Wall Framing.
Exterior and interior walls sheathed, stood, and plumbed. Shear walls nailed to an engineered schedule, not eyeballed, not "close enough." Every wall lined and squared before it gets tied into the next one.
This is the stage where the building actually starts looking like a house. It's also the stage where small errors compound fastest if they're not caught here.
Stage 01 (floor system) is up if you missed it. Stage 03 (roof structure) is next Friday.

"Absolutely flawless."
That's Bryan, in Edgemont, on the outdoor space we framed for him, deck work, done right, start to finish.
He mentioned the team was professional and efficient throughout. That's not an accident, it's the same crew, same process, on every job, whether it's a deck or a full-frame build.
If you've got an outdoor space project on your mind for this season, we're already booking into fall. Free assessment, fixed written quote.
