Today, we handed the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) of Alberta a big pink cheque for $10,948.25!
During our tour, we saw firsthand the incredible heart that goes into keeping this place running. For 30 years, ARF has helped tens of thousands of pets through rescue, care, and adoption. Beyond rescue work, they also operate a giant pet food bank to support struggling owners and other local rescues.
This donation was built over time by our customers, and every single penny went right where it was intended.
To the incredible team at ARF: thank you for 30 years of extraordinary work. And to every customer who chose ARF: SAY ARF!! You helped save lives. 💗

SAY… ARF!!

Today we got to hand the ARF Alberta - Animal Rescue Foundation a big pink cheque for a whopping... $10,948.25!!

And after an extensive tour of ARF's facility today (including a cuddle session with some brand new pups who didn't even have their eyes open yet - they look like little hippos!!), we learned that what happens behind those doors is even bigger than we realized.

ARF has been helping Alberta animals for 30 YEARS. In that time, they've helped tens of thousands of pets through rescue, care, adoption and support.

But here's something we didn't know: They also operate a GIANT pet food bank. We're talking a serious amount of pet food going out the door to help people and other animal rescues that are struggling to afford the food needed to care for the animals they love.

And we got to spend time with some insanely dedicated ARF people who have quite literally built their lives around helping animals. You can't tour this place without realizing just how much heart, work and sheer determination goes into keeping it all running. 💗

Which makes today's cheque feel particularly darn good.
Especially because this one has actually been a while in the making...

Our customers have been choosing ARF and generating donations for them for quite some time. For reasons completely outside ARF's control, we weren't able to deliver those dollars right away.

So we waited. And kept every penny for them. Today, all $10,948.25 finally went exactly where our customers intended it to go.

Today, we’re unveiling our brand-new website!

We took a risk (shocking for us, we know) and built a site that looks, sounds and feels like us.
It’s pink. 💗
It’s bold.
There are monsters. 👹
There are ridiculously good energy rates.
There are 100+ Alberta charities doing incredible things.

We wanted a website with considerably less boring energy-company blah blah blah ... No corporate beige. No energy-industry word salad. No “smiling couples pointing at a computer monitor.”

💔 First week back to school. And there are kids in Airdrie heading to class with no lunch… and who may not have had breakfast either.

And it’s not just Airdrie.

Food banks across Alberta are facing extraordinary demand as the cost of groceries & everyday life continues to squeeze household budgets.

So today, we headed to Airdrie with a cheque for $5,950.00 for the Airdrie Food Bank !!

We learned that they serve 100-200 people in their pantry EACH DAY and help over 500 families a month with their hamper program, so we know this donation will help them directly at a critical time.

To the team at Airdrie Food Bank, THANKS for the awesome visit today, and more importantly, thank you for putting food into the hands of our neighbours who need it.

Scientific fact of the day Turns out electricity can save dogs.

Today, Sponsor Energy is proud to make a $2,550.00 donation Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society - GEARS to help support the incredible work they do rescuing, caring for, and finding loving homes for animals in need.

GEARS is powered by volunteers, foster families and a whole lot of heart. They step in when animals need them most, and we’re pretty darn happy to help keep that good work going.

Sponsor Energy was proud to participate in and sponsor yesterday’s Ukrainian Festival at Murdoch Park!

The Sponsor Monster was out in full force, along with our Sponsor crew, including our own Ukrainian team members, Daria and Oleg, meeting families, making new friends, and celebrating with the community.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was announcing a $4,100 donation to House of Butterflies, a Ukrainian palliative care children hospice. 🦋🇺🇦 We’re incredibly proud to support the important work they do for children who need it most.

Which of these people is struggling with their mental health?

Based on looks alone, you can’t tell.

It could be your coworker, your neighbour, or your friend who, from the outside, seems to be doing just fine.

Today, Sponsor Energy delivered one of our big pink donation cheques for $6,300.00 to the Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Region and had the chance to visit their beautiful new space in Kensington.

While we were there, we noticed a semicolon tattoo on one of the staff members and learned more about what it represents: a pretty powerful reminder that we don’t always know what someone else is carrying.

Well, this doesn’t happen every day… Employee #1 of Sponsor Energy is BACK!

More than 14 years ago, when Sponsor Energy was just getting started, Sponsor's CEO made her very first hire: Alan Screaton.

Alan spent a couple of years with Sponsor before heading off to Spain for his Master’s degree in Consumer Behavior. From there, life took him to Australia, into the wine industry, and deep into the world of brands and marketing.

And somehow, all these years later, the road led right back here.

We’re VERY excited to welcome Alan back to Sponsor Energy, this time as our Marketing Manager!

We dug into the archives and found a few photos from Sponsor’s early days, including some with fellow early employees Dan Brownsberger ( #3) and Sander Steer ( #4).

We always have a wild time visiting Dale Gienow, the ever-charismatic Executive Director of WILDNorth - Northern Alberta Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation. It's even better when he introduces us to our feathered friend, the infamous raven Corby.

This visit, we came bearing a $3,900 donation to help WILDNorth continue rescuing and rehabilitating Alberta's wildlife.

As we've learned, some of Alberta's most important customers don't pay an energy bill.

They arrive with broken wings, orphaned, exhausted, or injured. At WILDNorth, they receive expert care, a second chance, and, whenever possible, the opportunity to return to the wild.

Thank you, WILDNorth, for protecting Alberta's wild friends. Super proud to support you!💚

Some battles don't end when the uniform comes off.

A surprising number of the men & women who once served our country now find themselves standing in line for something as basic as food.

How does that happen?

Today, Sponsor Energy was honoured to donate $4,050.00 to the Veterans Association Food Bank - they provide groceries & food hampers to veterans and more importantly, it reminds them that their service has not been forgotten.

We can never fully repay those who served.

But we can make sure they don't have to fight hunger after fighting for us.
